Its a duck. He demanded HBO, got HBO and its still not good enough.

HBO just needs to skip all of these average contenders and force GGG vs. Martinez. Its like nobody cares about being the best anymore.

I believe Australia has only one PPV outlet called main event and it's already booked on that date for the UFC.

are any of you going to take up a collection and compensate Geale for the money he'll lose?

      I didn't think so

and all because HBO couldn't put off the fight one week. seems fishy to me

even if Geale vs GGG did 10000 that'd still be 6 figures Geale would be losing out on.
Geale will get the whole sum from PPV? Why?

they couldn't move the fight 1 week? Geale isn't allowed to be seen in his home country?

even if Geale vs GGG did 10000 that'd still be 6 figures Geale would be losing out on. even if it were 5000 buys he'd still be losing at least 100k. no Aussie PPV means Geale stands to lose at least 100k or a few million if it sells as well as the Mundine fight.

so I'm not exactly seeing your point. HBO offered him terms that would make him lose money and exposure in his country all because they wouldn't move the fight one week?

and the Monaco offer was BS. that fight had no hope of generating the type of money that an HBO would.

you have a low ball offer and terms for a fight that are unacceptable. that seems like protection to me
But he is not fighting Mundine again nor pocketing all that ppv money. So he rejects hbo over an extra 30k.

So you got some knowledge of the purses offered both by hbo and for monaco? Sounds like it cause youre drawing some strong conclusions. Can you share with us? I know Rodriguez Grachev had a combined 1m purse

Furthermore, it's a bit ridiculous to talk about future Geale's deal, as he hasn't passed Wood yet.

depends on the deal. I remember Bradley vs Khan fell apart because Khan didn't want to share his UK PPV sales. whatever TV deals K2 has for Golovkin within Europe probably don't apply to Geale either.

let's say it sells 20k and Geale only gets 250k from it, come on that's still a lot of money. very few boxers can piss off that much money.

I won't even pretend to know the particulars of PPV pay outs but it's pretty safe to say whatever the deal Geale is going to lose a noticable about if his fight isn't on PPV in Australia

Honestly I'm not so sure about it. Before that HBO/SHO situation he was saying that Golovkin has got to build his name (to be up to his Quillin level) so fight makes sense. Now when he's with SHO he says I'm not affraid of anyone May be he doesn't or may be he just knows that fight can't be made so he don't have to worry.
If I where him and after being able to compare his own performance against Rosado (where he barely won and even looked to be in danger of loosing if Rosado would not be stopped on cuts) with what sick Golovkin did to Rosado I would affraid of fighting. May be not affraid of fight itself (that's Quillin not me because I'm would just affraid to loose health fighting such monster) but really worried of loosing the title.
But thats me and I can't say for sure what Quilling is thinking.

That's hardly the slamdunk gotcha some people are making it out to be. Having it aired in Australia was obviously assumed when he said it wanted it on HBO. American and Australian TV isn't something he should have to choose between.

The Venue is booked on the 19th so they cant do it then. And the week after Mayweather fights. There's a reason April 26th was picked

probably more than 30k. even if sells 5000 he'll (and by him I mean his team) at the very least 125k. half of the PPV profits goes back to the provider. so 5000/50 =250000, half of that is 125k. I know it doesn't sound like much but not everybody is a Money Mayweather making 30+ million per fight. most fighters have to get by on a lot less.

the numbers are just an example.

Rodriguez vs Grachev doesn't apply because that was apart of a light heavyweight tournament sponsored by the prince of Monaco who put up the purse himself. do you think he was doing the same this time?
