It isn't a sht poll! It isn't even a poll, it is a reality check. Question, WHO do you think native Puerto Ricans supported when Edwin Rosario fought Hector Camacho??? Who do you think they supported when Camacho fought Trinidad??? If Cotto was coming onto the scene just now and he was scheduled to fight Garcia, who do you think native Puerto Ricans would support??? That tells you right there where their heart is, in their countrymen! If you think they would support a New York fighter over one of their native islanders, man you were born yesterday! HIS dedicated fans are from New York, right under his nose the whole time.

You make good points..I'll give you that but WHO THE *** PUERTO RICO has right now that will shallow razor blades and die on there shield for them in the professional fight game that is so adored on the Island? Man I'm not speaking for everybody in Puerto Rico right now, this is IMO..Not everybody thinks that just because he doesn't live or was born in Puerto Rico isn't Boricua. If you want to get technical about it then it all boils down to DNA
that only Native Americans have. And it can truly determine who's Taino and who isn't..Garcia is faired skinned /claro with green eyes/ ojos verde and could still have more Taino BLOOD in his HEART then 40% of the Puerto Ricans living in the Island right now. So who's really BORICUA?

This has nothing to do with his identity as a "Boricua" or PR "blood"!!! It has to do with the fact that he is not FULLY one of them! His desire is for Puerto Ricans in Puerto Rico to FULLY support him and that will NOT ever happen! Will they support him somewhat? YES! Will they accept him fully as one of their own? NO!! Because he is not a part of their deep-rooted culture. Proof: If he was to fight one of their own, like Verdejo in a couple years or whoever, they would turn their back on him and root for Verdejo or the other guy. That means their support is limited, conditional, partially biased! He not without fans though. Not only has Puerto Ricans in New York / PA areas and the USA supported him UNCONDITIONALLY, he has fans that would NOT turn their backs on him no matter WHO he faces. He is travelling a good distant to find what is right next door to his house and the same neighborhood and the same block he was raised in! You need to understand ONE THING! This has NOTHING to do with the blood in him or Boricua!!!!!!! It is about a CULTURE, LIFESTYLE, PLACE OF BIRTH, LOCALITY, UPBRINGING, HERITAGE, CLOSE-NIT COMMUNITY, some combination of the aforementioned that he has NOT been a part of!
I'll even make it easier for you. Thomas Dulorme is no more than 50% Puerto Rican by blood but he is part of their culture!! Who do you think they would support if Garcia fought him?? Dulorme, that is who. He has lived there since he was 9 and IS a part of their culture, Garcia is not. It does not get any simpler than that. It is neither right, nor wrong, it is a social reality.
You could drive in a truck through the streets of Puerto Rico with a big horn telling everyone Garcia is Boricua but that isn't going to change the fact that A) he is not one of them and B) that is easily proven by who they would root for and who would be the enemy if he fought a native Puerto Rican fighter. I'm not a fan of Danny Garcia, but I love that he said "Philadelphia might be my birthplace, but Puerto Rico is my blood." That's the truth.
Danny needs to start taking Spanish classes though. He said one sentence in Spanish at the press conference and it was terrible, haha.Comment
