Comments Thread For: Gennady Golovkin Uncrowned: Post-Fight Report Card

Sergio Martinez remains history’s Middleweight king.

Doesn’t it feel like a formality more and more every time Gennady Golovkin steps into a ring?

With his sixteenth knockout in a row, 11 of them in eleven title fights (including his interim WBA belt win), Golovkin is a terror. Sure, there isn’t a depth of ‘top contenders’ on his ledger but there has been plenty on the borderline.

    Case in point: Osumanu Adama.

Martinez is not going to fight GGG. GGG might as well move up and challenge SOG.

Uncrowned? Not if the Princess has anything to say about it. Sig says it all. I agree there was mention that Sergio may go after Canelo if he beats Cotto which would be a travesty. I don't see how that happens though considering the network issue and i believe Martinez still has one fight left on his HBO contract after Cotto. They need to tell him Golovkin or walk. RING belt is all that matters forget Rubio.

This article is bull****. If there were ever a chance that Floyd was gonna attempt to fight for the middleweight title, the Martinez-Cotto winner may tempt him. Especially if its Cotto. But I agree that that's far fetched. But the bull**** in the article comes when it says "Martinez's title reign will be stained if GGG isn't next." Excuse me. What if Canelo wants the winner? Think about it. What's Canelo's next move adter Angulo? The Martinez-Cotto winner is the logical next fight to try and make. And if that's the case. Sergio makes probably 5x the money he'd make fighting GGG. And there's no way to criticize a fighter nearing 40 for taking that route.

Dont get this article.... GGG Uncrowned? Nobody for him to fight? Really? Some guy named Andre Ward has been calling him out lately.

Golovkin is uncrowned because he hasn't won the crown. When somebody else holds the crown, you gotta beat him to get the crown.

False. He's been saying his name, not the same thing.

I don't necessarily disagree in general, but with that tiny ass ring, Golovkin could have been standing on the center and always be cutting off the ring by default.

I thought Golovkin was really good at cutting off the ring against Rosado, Macklin, and Stevens. Even if you escape him, you have to work enormously hard to do so.
