Well looks like Khan got the Floyd fight now since there's no way Maidana is going to catch up from being behind 3,500 votes in 26 more hours. So I guess Julio Diaz is the guy to beat instead of Berto to get the Floyd fight these days.

I looked on the ESPN deportes website which is in Spanish, they have a poll. Only 167 Argentinians voted.

You really think that if the Mayweather Promotions site was in Spanish it would make much difference?



If Maidana is winning 60% of US votes, than Khan is winning 40% of them - add that to 99% of UK votes and it becomes clear why he is ahead.

Let me break this down with a few quick calculations.

Brit PPV- at MOST 25 usd. Or on box nation free.. But let's assume 25 usd.
Us PPV 70 dollars for sd closer to 80 for hd. But we'll keep the 70 figure.

Maidana, ahead in America by 22 percent but let's call it 20 to be conservative

We'll assume May-khan sells 1 million PPV buys. A generous number. But let's go... The twenty percent increase Maidana brings is a bare minimum, he in all reality probably sells about 30 percent more than Khan in America. His story is very marketable in my opinion. They can market the **** out of the whole Broner angle. His ko percentage, the nature he upset Broner.. All of it.

So khan's million ppv's grosses 70 million.
300 thousand UK ppv's at 25 a pop is.. 7.5 mill

77.5 mill... Estimated gross for khan.

Maidana/khan's conservative extra 20 percent gets 1.2 million American PPV buys grosses 84 million.

77.5 million mayweather/khan
84 million mayweather/Maidana

A difference of 6.5 million in favor of Maidana. And those figures are being generous towards Khan and conservative towards Maidana.

A few other things. I'm not even factoring how Mayweather won't be getting as much % of the UK upside as he will the us. This cuts into his share of that 7.5 mill. And basing expectations of PPV buys on twitter accounts is boneheaded.. Most those people are computer savvy and a large portion of computer savvy people dl fights and stream fights.



Now assume I'm right about the massive marketability of Maidana and he pulls closer to 30 percent more American PPV buys... The fight then grosses 91 million. That's a gross difference of 13.5 million.


So, it's simple stuff really.. Even if you give khan 400 k UK buys (unlikely), Maidana's conservative estimate of American PPV superiority still bests the fight by 4 million.

This is being conservative with Maidana's numbers and generous with Khan's


Financially Maidana is the better bet. So Mayweather picks Khan, it's because he likes the idea of being in the ring better than the idea of being in there with Marcos. End of.

I don't believe that personally. Need to factor in the possibility of Maidana-Broner II on the undercard as well. You won't have that if Maidana is taking on Floyd.
