Comments Thread For: Oscar Gonzalez Removed From Machines, To Be Cremated

Featherweight boxer Oscar Gonzalez passed away Sunday in Mexico, less than 24 hours following a 10th round knockout loss to Jesus Galicia in their Televisa-televised main event Saturday evening in Mexico City.

Gonzalez was rushed to the hospital immediately following his loss to Galicia, in what was a billed as a WBC silver featherweight title fight. The fighter has since been declared brain dead, with his family to arrive from Tepic on Sunday afternoon before the fighter is officially pronounced dead.

Gonzalez was 23 years young at the time of his passing. The featherweight held a ring record of 23-3 (14KO) and was in the midst of a three-fight win streak prior to Saturday evening. The run included an upset points win over former 122 lb. titlist Rico Ramos last April. [Click Here To Read More]

Prayers to his family. No one should be forced to fight the way the public demands. This a way people take care of their families. Commissions need to invest in the integrity of the fighters before anything. It is a shame organizations make profit off of lives and they don't take initiative to avoid casualties... They are just numbers.
