JMM vs Barrera 2 in Mexico... May 3rd 2014 with a stacked undercard of Mexican fighters and top prospects.

Marquez is a coward! He states that he doesn't want to be provodnikov's 'stepping stone' but when you think about it, who ever he fights in mexico will be a 'stepping stone' type of fighter. He doesn't want to risk losing to the russian because it can jeopardize a future pacman or bradley fight. Just say that marquez.

It makes perfect sense for Marquez himself to personally take this standpoint, why would he want to face a man such as Prov when he is on the way up and JMM is looking to bow out soon...

BUT, for fans and anyone else involved it is a shame to hear someone like JJM blatantly making it apparent that he believes he would be beaten so why fight...That isn't the mentality of the great fighter that he is, its a shame to hear. If these comments came from other fighters there would be a major backlash, but I feel as though JMM gets away with stuff like this because he is respected so much by the majority.

I'm not saying he should fight Prov as I'd be pretty sure he would beat him now, its just a bit of a slap in the face of fans for a big fighter like JMM to essentially say 'I'm not fighting him, he would beat me'...

Yep it's the same thing Marquez did when JMM was ducking Amir Khan, Brandon Rios, and now Provodnikov.

Amir and Rios were both legit challenges and were real threats at the time. Rios was coming off the Alvarado win.

Marquez ducked them for softer fights biding his time before Pacquiao. That's the difference. PAC continually had to go through tough fights while Marquez took lighter fights (besides the Floyd fight).

Marquez Knows How To Duck Guys; He Ducked Erik Morales His ENTIRE Career!

Former gym partners, they had a falling out, and went separate gym directions. Must have been too many wars in the gym, that Marquez came up short on. Twice in recent history, Marquez was offered Morales twice, most recently in the last couple years, and Marquez declined both. Marquez knows he is a stepping stone to Provo, because Provo will knock Marquez out if he is baited to climb in the ring with him.

People are getting ****** on here by the day, JMM scared of Provo.?? He has fought nothing but the best his whole career. Fought Manny four times, Pacquiao the best most brutal fighter of the last ten years and now JMM is scared of fighting someone??WTF..

He wants a to be a champion in five different weight classes for his legacy, no Mexican has ever done that. He wants to make history. Provo is a champion at 140, JMM has already been a champion at that weight, He needs a championship at 147, which is why he will have no choice but to fight the winner of Bradely vs Pacquiao to fullfill his wish..

Come on people think logically, dude is 40 years old, what would he gain by fighting Provo? Hell Pacquiao could of faced Provo since he is younger than Marquez but chose to rematch Bradely. Provo even stated he would fight Pacquiao. Why aint nobody saying Pacquiao ducked Provo??

Provodnikov should fight Danny Garcia or Maidana. Even a fight against Matthysse and Thurman would be entertaining but I'm sure Provodnikov only wants the big fights against big names.
Provodnikov is signed to Top Rank. All of the other boxers you have named are with Goldenboy, therefore those fight's will not happen.. conflicting Promotions.

Only a stepping stone if you know your gonna lose. I'm guessing Marquez is gonna fight a Ramos level fighter as a stay busy fight. Would be crazy if PAC and Bradley don't give him a rematch.

Of course he doesn't -- the fight makes no sense for him. Brings in no money, does nothing for his legacy...so why would he bother? He's earned the right to go out on his own terms.
