It's not the end of the world. He was beating Lopez clearly, albeit in a war, before the broken jaw. Collazo, well he ended up being much tougher for an Ortiz coming 2 losses and last fought on June 2012. Guys, that's 18 months away from the ring. Did I think Ortiz would go in there and blow out Collazo in 2-3 rounds? Absolutely. Did I also forget that Ortiz had been away for 18 months, hadn't won a fight since 2011, and Collazo is arguably tougher than Ortiz's last opponent, Josesito Lopez? He probably is, and yes I did forget bout the particulars. Not everybody is Floyd Mayweather, who can leave for 18-24 months, come back against a top 1-3 opponent and win by landslide UD.
Victor Ortiz "I'm shot and it hurts that I can't accept it."

Spoke with Ortiz and his sister last night and Ortiz is really hurt off the loss, but he can't accept he's done. He feels he's physically strong, but doesn't know what's wrong with his body when he gets hit. With that being said he's not retiring, cuz he feels his ego was hurt worse. I really feel for him, but he should retire.
Good for him mr bandito: he accepted responsability for the loss, took it seriously and has the desire to see past it. You might tell him that he is after all a young man, and that boxing fans all believe that god forbid a fighter has a losing streak they are all "shot," and other such nonsense.
If Victor strung together two victories he might well be fighting for a championship again... If he was fighting 100 years ago he might lose two more fights, then win 5 more all in the space if a year or less.
The media is designed to create inflammation. All Victor has to do is get better and keep trying...dude still has his life in front of himComment

I was telling my buddy last weeknd that Collazo was a bad comeback opponent. I thought Ortiz would win, but I didn't think it'd be pretty. Obviously I was wrong but I feel a lot of people underestimated Collazo. Anyone who though Ortiz could steamroll Collazo was delusional.Comment

Ortiz has to go the Arreola route, as stated before by another poster.
Obviously, he lost to Lopez, why turn around and put him against a similarly leveled opponent in Cano? That would be ******. He has to start with absolute journeymen, i'm talking about sure wins. Cano can take a punch and can punch. Don't take his cutting easily as a "Oh he can get KO'ed easy", he just cuts easily but he has a chin and can punch.Comment

Cano has 20 KO's of 27 wins. That is dangerous. He also arguably beat Malignaggi.

It's always frustrating when a guy has a lot of tools mixed with a fatal flaw. So close but so far kind of thing.Comment
