Donaire was a hype job IMO, all he got was his left hook plus he had a bad luck and had to fight one of the most skilled boxers ever.

Mikey is nothing like those guys, he's skilled, he thinks.

As I said Mikey within 6 rounds.

Donaire by no means is a hype job. He might of lost a few steps but is still very game.

I hope this same effect doesn't fall on Mikey after Gamboa beats him.

Donaire was a consensus top-five P4P fighter when Rigo schooled his ass. I've noticed that very few posters here have even attempted to discredit that win. The few that have are just inconsolably sour.

If Gamboa beats Garcia, I think it'll be much the same. Most guys around here seem to think Mikey beats Yuri. Credit will go to Gamboa if/when he beats Garcia.

Mike is on my p4p list at number 9 right now, so if gamboa beats him, I would give him all the credit in the world,, huge props

i don't think donaire was a hype job, i do think he severely underestimated rigo. a more prepared donaire would've given a better account of himself, tho rigo would still beat him, dude is just that good.

i hope mikey doesn't think he's going to be able KO gamboa like donaire thot he would do with rigo.

I think you're right, Donaire underestimated Rigo. I also agree Guille would've beaten him anyway. Something tells me Mikey isn't going to make the same mistake. He's very humble, calculating...methodical. I think this fight is all on Yuri. If he's anything like he once was on fight night, he'll win. If he's anything like he was in the last two fights, he'll lose. Not to take anything away from Garcia. He's a good fighter. He's just not special, the way Gamboa once was.

Unless Gamboa beats Garcia in spectacular fashion, they will find an unforgivable condemnation for Gamboa most likely. Similar to the "he's boring" media bash-a-thon for Rigo.

I think so, although I don't buy in to half the excuses Nonito had post fight, he possibly could have been better prepared.

Gamboa shouldn't have much trouble with Mikey. Garcia has good timing, everything else Gamboa does better.

You've probably seen the interview I'm about to refer to. Have you seen the one where Yuri is asked why he looked so different in his last couple of fights? He replies that he's been working on different things, trying to master different approaches...that he'll be a compete fighter when he's done.

Gamboa is an exciting fighter by nature. The guys that knock him because of his most recent fights have forgotten that Yuri was once one of the most electrifying fighters in the game. We're going to see a return to that form versus Garcia. I'm betting on it.

this is a very interesting and intriguing fight because both are talented, athletic and chinny. with that said, I got Gamboa by close but UD in a tactical fight
