Lacy is probably my favorite non-heavyweight, or maybe Ricky Hatton. I also used to really enjoy watching Julian Letterlough. For the most part I watch whatever boxing I can, but I'm not a huge fan of any of the current non-heavyweights. None of them have both the personality and the ability to interest me. A lot of them are very talented however. Diego Corrales seems like a cool guy and I love his punching power. I've seen a few of his fights, including the Mayweather showdown where I was rooting for Chico, but I haven't seen the Castillo fights. I'd like to.
The heavyweights interest me the most because I'm a budding historian and the heavyweight division has the richest and most colorful history in the sport IMO. I like to compare the modern heavyweights to the old timers. The size discrepency between the old guys and the contemporaries is a cause for a lot of disagreement and arguments and I enjoy it. Even with the division in the state that it's in, I'd rather watch Wladimir Klitschko against James Toney than any fight south of two hundred pounds.
i mean no disrespect in saying this dude but if your just focusing on the heavyweight division to me thats not really liking the sport all that great and i mean that for any point in history as long as anybody has watched. i cant just watch one or two divisions. and right now especially the heavyweights arent all that great. you mentioned personality and all but really the heavyweights are worse than most on that regard and talent and everything else.
your missing out if your doing that man. i wish youd try to widen that scope and watch the more disciplined guys who have to make weight. featherweights, 130, 135, 140,147,154 all have some major exciting things coming up. and below featherweight too. strawweight to bantamweight all have some really really exciting things about to happen. the flyweight and strawweight divisions are boxings best kept secret.
there are all these guys in those really low divisions about to explode onto the scene i hope. calderon and arce will have their hands full if they start taking any fights from abroad or if any of those guys from asian countries start coming over here. actually i am certain that either calderon or arce will lose to one of those guys eventually. theres a lot of hidden talent like eagle kwayo and rodel mayol at strawweight then wonjongkam and darchinyan and some others around flyweight. and of course you cant forget brian viloria of course.
hopefully these weights start getting some more western exposure cause things are going to be very hot in those weight classes for the next couple years.Comment
