Martinez is getting old, don't be surprised if he reinjures his knee or breaks his hand again. He can get away with it fighting the Martin Murray's of the world but against a seasoned vet like Cotto he's going to need every weapon in his arsenal.

The guys Martinez has been fighting have been top 10 material at middleweight (except for Dzinziruk, he was one of the best junior middleweights at the time). I don't see how a B+ level junior middleweight poses the same kind of threat at middleweight as top class middleweights do.
      You severely overrate Sergei Dzinziruk.

That's what I'm wondering too... If Cotto were to fight him back then, he would be considered Michael Jennings quality today

Martinez is going to knock Cotto out under 7..
I want Martinez solely on the hopes of Golovkin being the one to finish Martinez's career..

But seeing Cotto win would be great, history would have been written. I am a fan of Cotto really, but I don't see him beating Martinez regardless of injury/catchweight/knee braces.

Just signed up to site to post on this thread...

I am not invested or a fan of either fighter...

Understand Martinez is faster, stronger, bigger, and the favorite.

From what I have seen, one knock on Sergio Martinez is that he is top-heavy meaning he has way skinnier legs than the rest of his frame. Tyson Chandler on the Knicks and Deron Williams are the same way... Chandler broke his leg and had other problems below the waist and Deron Williams broke both ankles.
How the hell these athletes just bench press and dont squat or work out their legs I have no idea.

One advantage Cotto has is fearlessness, I think Cotto won staredown IMO

Cotto also said all the right things in the 24/7 I saw, Martinez was making statements like "I am the most powerful man in boxing" or whatever and saying "I will win this fight" don't quote me but that is basically what he was saying... that is just dumb, stay humble before a fight, leave it for the ring.

I saw the Cotto Trout fight live and I got a single ticket to this fight,
I'm rooting for Cotto just based on the last 24/7 didn't really like Sergio's arrogance.

All I am saying is Cotto's not give-a-**** fearlessness will give him at least a better chance against Sergio, I would not completely count Cotto out.
He was in a brawl I guess against Margharito where it looked like he lost a few pints of blood, freaking bloodbath, he is a brawler, don't know if Sergio really is.

I am not huge into boxing and follow baseball, basketball, football and even tennis and golf more closely, but this is just my amateur opinion.

Cotto's left hook will be the beginning of the end for Sergio.

I can see Sergio catching a monster left hook to the liver that sends him grimacing to the canvas in agony. The power is real in Cotto's left hook.

That garbage essay you wrote is invalid based off of that bolded statement alone. Open workouts don't mean **** either. All that matters is what happens when the bell rings.

1 question has there been any word on Sergio sparing this training camp? I have heard from Freddie that Cotto sparing has gone well, but I have not heard anything about Sergio sparing.
