And before anyone starts blasting me my wife is Rican and my kids are half Rican. Thought I would get that out of the way.
    The fanboyism is on "eleven."

My Sergio prediction is based on a very old adage in boxing, one that not only makes logical sense, but has also been proven in practice: "All things being equal, a good big man will always beat a good little man." I consider both men good boxers and warriors. The main difference between them is size. The wildcard is health. If Martinez shows up 100%, or close to it, tomorrow night, it won't be close.

And "Maravilla" iced P Will in epic fashion in two, not fifteen.
That's where we disagree. I think cotto is a much better boxer. It's in his family and he has been boxing since ten. I have been saying what roach has said all along. Martinez is an excellent athlete but not a very good boxer. That's just how I feel. I think roach talks a lot **** but I agree with that. Also the 15 round comment was in reference to how it took him 2 fights to ko pwill. Cotto could very well lose. I like his chances against Martinez. No fanboy here.

        Sounds about right to me.

I can agree that Cotto is a better boxer, but much better? No, I can't agree on that. Miguel fights much more textbook, probably because he was trained to be a boxer from a young age. Martinez is very unorthodox, perhaps because he picked up the sport at a late age. Is Pacquiao a much worse boxer than Cotto? He's pretty unorthodox and athletic himself. We saw how that turned out.

You are getting a little off subject. PAC is athletic and unorthodox BUT has been boxing since an early age. I think PAC and Cotto are better than Martinez. What I said is cotto is much better because he has been boxing since he was 10 not because of a certain style. I agree Sergio athleticism makes him unorthodox, but if we are going with old boxing adages who wins, the boxer who has spent his life in the sport or the one who picks it up later in life? I just can't wait for this fight. There are so many questions which make this, in the words of max kellerman "must see t.v." lol

I agree with you and my problem is, if I had two faded boxers, past their prime, who would fall apart first?

An older fighter who relies on athleticism and reflexes with an unorthdox style (Roy Jones Jr. Martinez, etc.)

Or a pure boxer who uses technique above all else? (Whitaker, Wright, Mayweather, etc.)

Not to say either Cotto or Martinez falls perfectly into those catagories but just some food for thought.

              • as it gets closer to fight time im getting hyped. i like both these fighters so i hope some bull**** like sergio knee giving out or cotto getting put to sleep doesnt happen. i never liked cotto back around 07/08 because my mate would always overrate him and i wasnt impressed by his performance against zab judah and mosley but he impressed me in his fight against margarito even though he lost. u cant hate on anyone who just fights the best time and time again and thats what cotto does.

ive always liked sergio because he is the underdog and never gets his dues plus i wanted him to get a good payday. hoping for good clean fight and hopefully both guys can go on with their careers.

Yeah I'm with you in the sense I'm excited enough that I worry a headbutt is coming, a knee is going to give out, Sergio won't make weight shockingly, etc.

Hope for the best, Prepare for the worst. Right?
