I don't understand some of these numbers. 60%? lol I don't know how one can quantify Sergio's necessary capacity for victory, but I think that's a little low. I expect "Maravilla" to win this fight, but I think he needs to be at least close to full potential to realize that. What would that be? 80, 90%? I don't know. But he has to be up there. Cotto is younger and injury-free. Considering the circumstances, he's dangerous. I don't think he'll knock Sergio out, but he might be able to outwork and outpoint the fading champion.

Yeah when I see ppl say statements like that as it pertains to what percentage someone is, I just roll my eyes. It sounds so dumb, just someone pretending to sound smart

I went down to 60% considering some of cottos key strengths will be neutralised by the size difference. Obviously we can't really measure any of this so percentages is a rough guess at how confident I feel. What I mean is a 6/10 performance from Martinez should be enough to see off what's left of Cotto. I really don't think he's anywhere near prime, but had been such a great fighter he's been able to carry on at a high level with what remains.

However I think his last performance was very flattering, they picked the right guy to look good against.

I just read a really good article on the fight. When I get to my PC later, I'll post it. Amongst other things, Martinez and his people are saying he's "100%." If that's true, and people have been known to lie about such things, there should be no excuses.

In a highly unusual move, the NYSAC ordered special MRIs on Sergio's right knee and right hand. I knew Martinez had two operations on his knee. What I didn't know is that he twice broke the same hand. This might all turn out to be much ado about nothing, but it's sure making the lead-up to this fight intriguing.

Understood. Cotto isn't just the smaller man, he's also seen better days. I agree. I just have a problem accepting these estimates on Martinez's health. Despite being in basic accord with you, I think Sergio has to be pretty close to 100% to win this fight comfortably. Much less makes the fight too close to confidently predict, in my opinion.

The Rodriguez fight says nothing about Miguel's preparedness for this next fight. Delvin is nowhere near "Maravilla's" caliber. I think most serious fans understand that.

If Martinez passed the MRIs, he can't be too bad.

That's what I thought, too. Then again, those tests catch injuries up to a certain extent. I wouldn't say they're a guarantee of anything, except that the injuries aren't severe.
