    And it could be
If there's no other PPV fight, he'll fight in Argentina. He'll simply not fight for American TV, which won't violate his HBO contract. It doesn't matter if Golovkin is more popular than Martinez in the US when he's infinitely more popular than Golovkin in Argentina.

The gate for his last fight was around 5 million USD plus there was sponsorship. HBO never pays more than 3 million for an entire card.

How much money did Martinez make against Murray WITH HBO?

Golovkin already huge in the States, averaging more than a million views each fight.

HBO would put it on PPV

I just rewatched Cotto vs Trout. Cotto has no chance against Martinez. A little movement from Trout totally threw Cotto off. Martinez has all the tools Trout used to beat Cotto. He also hits much harder. Martinez should knock Cotto out on June 7. Then, he may have to fight Rubio. If that happens, it will probably be off HBO in Argentina.

Why? GGG draws very high ratings.

With both HBO money and Argentine revenue sources, Nathan Lewkowics claimed he made more money for the Murray fight than he made for the Chavez Jr fight. But HBO is not coming back to Argentina. Everything that could go wrong went wrong last time.

I think unfortunately Martinez is stuck in a Felix Sturm situation where its' not worth it for him to leave if it isn't a big money fight.
