He was robbed in the Norwood fight.
Agreed, Norwood should have gone to JMM,

The John was ugly but marquez lost. He was the challenger in the champions home turf. So he can't expect to win with just showing good, he should have had take the belt from John with aggression.

Marquez is about stylistic Match-up, If the style is not suited for him, he just can't bring the A game. JMM is good against offensive fighters and Par to below average with defensive ones.

All his losses are from Defensive fighters, except from Pac.

Pacquiao won the first 2 fights with Marquez clearly because of the knockdowns. 1st fight especially, the knockdowns were too much to come back from. Though he adjusted and boxed his way back. Fact is, knockdowns are part of scoring the fight. Errant scoring caused the draw.

PAC-Marquez 3 was a 50-50 fight depending on how you viewed it. Marquez scored more seemingly clean power shots. However, PAC still outworked him. PAC's activity was the difference. Very very close... but the challenger needed a more clear and decisive win to take the belt. That's why it went to PAC.

Don't let the pro-Marquez crowd in the Vegas arena fool you. The crowd was largely Mexican and pro-marquez. It was tough to score it and it was by no means a robbery. Expectations before the fight that Pacquiao would dominate, influenced public perception of the bout. PAC didn't meet expectations, while Marquez exceeded what many people thought he'd do.

I'd say his best win other than PAC was perhaps Barrera. But even then, it wasn't very decisive at all.

So can we all agree that Marquez is an above-average fighter, on the level of fighters like Chris John, who just happened to have the perfect style to trouble Pacquiao?

Wouldn't you say that Pacquiao's style was also difficult for Marquez? It goes both ways. Both men struggled with each other.

Marquez is a hall of famer. There's no question about it.

pacquiao's style is the type marquez eats up
pacquiao can't use his usual footwork and alot of his speed is neutralized by being forced to chase and be left reaching at marquez

except for the third fight, marquez' feet were slow as hell by that point, but he made up with it by getting real bulk and strong as *** so as to keep pacquiao off with heavy shots

pacquiao is just an atg, he fights marquez on his terms and still wins(most of the time)

                  His official legit wins....

Pacquiao, Katsidis, Diaz, Casamayor, Barrera, Salido, Gainer, etc.

Out of those his Top 5 are probably.....

                  1. Pacquiao
                  2. Barrera
                  3. Casamayor
                  4. Gainer
                  5. Diaz/Salido

But he arguably should have had wins over Pacquiao in 04' and 08', as well as wins over John and Norwood.
See, this is the usual crap that comes from JMM fans and casts a shadow over them and the man himself. The guy does no favours by continually moaning all the time.

JMM was KD 3 times in the first round, that's already a 4 point advantage for Manny, JMM would have had to win 4 rounds of the remaining 11 just to tie with Manny in terms of points and then go 3-2 in the remaining 5 rounds just to edge a win. That's ridiculous, no way did Manny just win 3 rounds in their first meeting.

The draw was BS anyway, considering it was Manny who should have got the win but he and his team moved on without complaining endlessly about a judge who couldn't add to 10.

I'll skip over JMM/Manny 2...all of you say the John fight was close, have you seen it? There was one American writer there, he clearly stated it was a good win for John. Watch the fight, not only is John winning but the 2 points deducted from JMM means he wins even more clearly. People are now complaining about the Bradley fight in the same manner lol

The one clear robbery of his career was the 3rd fight with Pac. And all you so called fans who complain about Marquez getting robbed, what about the Barrera fight...wasn't that close enough to warrant similar moaning as all you lot seem to do is whinge. Barrera has a damn good case for winning that. For the record I had JMM winning by 2 rounds.

JMMs best win will always be the controversial Manny KO

Second to that is his win over Casamayor and Gainer and then an almost shot Barrera.

Consider the big jump in talent from Pacquiao to the guys Marquez beat is not merely big. It's an abyss. Again and again I have the opinon Marquez was lucky to have boxed at the right time, right era.

If Pacquiao had the mentality of Floyd of not giving rematches, and wasn't actually cheated on the card by an ignorant judge in the first fight, there wouldn't be 4 and possibly 5 fights.

I used to help drum up interest for fight #5. But seeing how sour Marquez like his favorite drink, I just wish after Pac retakes the WBO belt Marquez won't be given the opportunity to challenge Pac and Bradley again. Just look at who he is fighting next, a bum in Mexico City. He could've fought Rios, Provo, or Alvarado at 147 for no belts but does not want to be exposed for what a shiet fighter he is above lightweight.

Marquez got it good compared to Floyd and Pacquiao. While the two gets flak everytime they choose an easier opponent, Marquez gets a free pass. Just imagine Pac fighting the likes of a Likar Ramos while he waits for a Mayweather fight to materialize. He'll be crucified and won't even be considered anywhere near p4p rankings. Floyd gets a bit pampered bacause he is American. He gets fighters like Canelo, Ortiz, and Guerrero and people believe that merits Fighter of the Year. But back to Marquez, even if he just fought notable jrW and WW's on the level of Floyd's opponents, surely I won't be pissing on his career.
