I don't think it was ever well publicized, but seizures is the reason Pavlik gave for retiring. The first time was a week after Ward pulled out. I don't think it has anything to do with alcohol. The man was hit on the head for many years.

Alcohol can have everything to do with his seizures and judging from drinking history, it's likely.

Actually, severe alcoholics often develop seizures due to their excessive abuse and when they try to quit, the severity and frequency of the seizures increase and comatose can occur if they stop drinking altogether.

^^EXACTLY^^......when you get seizures from drinking, you are drinking A TON. Hard stuff too, not just beer.
