At his stage of his career is when u need a promoter! After you've racked up some wins and titles and make a name for yourself and become a draw, then and only then do u no longer need a promoter. He's doing it backwards.

Something strange is going on. I have never seen a fighter this good not getting fights with high ranked fighters and fighting in 8 round fights. He looks like he could be champion if only he would fight top contenders instead of guys that lose a third of their fights. His hand speed, power and accurate combinations are outstanding.Comment

His hand speed and combinations are good, but he has very little power. Once he steps his game up, he'll be a Meldrick Taylor type of fighter. Throws blistering combos, but has no one punch power and only gets KOs through accumulation and hitting the guy with ten unanswered punches.Something strange is going on. (INFORMATION) Have you ever wondered why Gary Russell Jr doesn't get the big names? Russell is not signed to a promoter, He is only managed by Al Haymon. Promoters are hesitant to put him in against their stars because he isn't tied to their company. Russell wants to be able to fight who ever where ever. The fear that Russell could take a belt from Golden Boy over to Top Rank or reverse is hampering his career.

I figured I would repost this.
Didn't know this. Reminds me of Hopkins, he just got to keep winning.
Why is Al Haymon his manager, does he tell Gary Russel to be quiet? Why not make a lot of noise and call out fighters, its what the fans like to see, the call outs will get you a fight. Weird.Comment

Taylor wasn't a bad fighter not at all. You really think he can accomplish all that Taylor did?His hand speed and combinations are good, but he has very little power.
