I like Ortiz, he has overcome a lot in his life and a guy you can root for if things are going well. I would love to see him in with Broner at some point.
But let's not confuse where this guy is in his career. He is one more loss away from Golden Boy dropping him.
He's headlining a card in Brooklyn during super bowl week, where all the big names in the sports media are, on a non subscription cable channel thats in at least 40 million households -18 million more households than showtime.

    Are you sure about this?

        Your right about this. lol

Ortiz was just dumb for constantly dropping his hands and going in for multiple hugs. Floyd did what he was supposed to do but I was so pissed after paying for that fight.

Guess what, move the fight to next week or a week after and all those weak excuses go away.
Ortiz is on FoxSports1 because Golden Boy considers it a risk to put Showtime money and promotion into a guy that is a headcase.
No name fighter in his right mind would choose to fight on a second tier sports network on a Thursday night on Super Bowl week when no one is paying attention unless they are forced to. Hell, just last week people on this boxing board where wondering when the fight was on. You think the general public knows, cares, or will tune in to a network created for college football during the offseason?

An Ortiz rematch is an even bigger joke than the Khan fight which is already a pretty big ****ing joke.

Ortiz hasn't fought in years since quitting against a lightweight, and he was already quitting even when he was in his prime, where his best win was Andre Berto. How could anybody possibly take this fight seriously.

It's like Pacquiao fighting Juanma Lopez. Or Rigo fighting Jorge Arce, Or Sergio Martinez fighting Ishida.

He isnt a option for may. but he could be an option for september. mayweather is gonna have a hard time finding an opponent for september if maidana fights broner in june or july. if no maidana and no danny. it could be ortiz in september.

the fight is in new york. ortiz is fighting a new york fighter in a brand new arena. where the tickets are gonna be cheap. there is gonna be a big crowd at the barclays tonight. ortiz has a chance too be the main event in the barclays, in the same city as the super bowl, 3 days before the super bowl after a year and a half layoff. what else could he ask for.. its either that or be on somebody's undercard. what would you choose?

This is how i see it^^^^^^

Ortiz has to beat collazo via spectacular ko, and ortiz has a high profile, and would probably come cheaper than khan's reported 6 million..

but honestly i think they hold ortiz off til sept ppv, that way the expendables 3 movie will already be out, and ortiz's profile will be even higher, plus the controversy in the first fight

                    ortiz-floyd 2 in sept 2014

I almost read to fast and I thought you said "I was on something." LOL. It was just a thought I had after just realizing nothing has been said about his next opponent and even with Ortiz fighting tonight, that still gives him enough time to be ready for a May fight. Just a thought.
