That's actually become more of a Mexican thing now. The fighters and trainers have been doing a lot of complaining lately about not wanting to fight guys who "run" and would rather face other boxers who are willing to put on "exciting" fights. Ruslan is that guy for JMM.
Why would Marquez be scared of Provodnikov? There's really no reason for him to take the fight. He's been looking for a title in his 5th weight class. Ruslan doesn't provide that opportunity. I don't think Marquez would be motivated in a fight against Ruslan. A win wouldn't be a great career achievement nor a big money fight.
If we put things in perspective, Marquez is almost 40 years old and practically semi-retired (only fought once last year). He's only going to fight one or two more fights. I'm sure he has his eye on the Pacquiao/Bradley winner.
So ppl are slowing coming around to the acknowledgement that Pac didn't "dominate" Bradley in their last fight, and if he fought the "same," he will lose again. I watch that fight many times, and it was a really ugly fight. Too many wild missing punches. The most anyone could come out of that fight with was a draw. That fight made me actually not wanting to hear Jim Lampley speak again.
Now, on topic, this is a fight I actually want to see. Yeah, Marquez is way past prime, but Prov is not speedy gonzales so Marquez counterpunching will be effective. I would go with Marquez based on ring IQ and the fact is Russian is easily cut.
Any thread about Mexican fighters is hilarious. All the Puerto Kneecans (Puerto Ricans), Filisleepers (Filipinos), and Cuborings (Cubans) band together to hate on Mexicans.
Has Marquez even mentioned Ruslan's name? Provodnikov has a belt, if he's "eazy wurk" then keep your skillz sharp and fight him. Something tells me Marquez doesn't want this fight, and it's showed the whole time.
boxing god? Pac is the only significant fighter he's ever beaten and that's after four tries now he won't give him a rematch even after offering triple what he made in the last fight. As boxing fans and as entertaining as a pac rematch would be why do hulquez fans want to ****block this fight.
He was offered triple what he made in the 4th fight?
That would be around 20 million , do u have a link to that where that offer was made?
He loses to Bradley and then complains he wants a rematch. Top Rank already offered him a fight with Pac which he turned down.
Does he really think Top Rank would give him the Bradley rematch when they have Pac-Bradley II available to them? after this fu**in' guy turned down $10 million to fight Pac? They will say, and did say "fu** this guy" and make Pac-Bradley II. They will offer him Provodnikov which he already said he has zero interest in. Marquez comes off like an ungrateful, arrogant prick.
If Top Rank was smart they would do Provodnikov-Rios on April 4th, to help hype the Pac-Bradley rematch on the 12th. They need something to help out the buys for that fight because even though that's the only fight they really have to make for Pac right now Bradley is still a tough sell. He's boring as sh** and can't punch.
