The best should fight the best. Simple as that. Why make excuses for Marquez as to why he shouldn't give Provodnikov the chance to fight him? Or why he would rather leave Pacman out of the mix after knocking him out cold, keeping his legendary status instead of potentially losing in another match. He is without a doubt ducking Pacman, and even though we can't say he is ducking Prov, there really is no one else to fight in their stable.

Fighters should at least try to have the fighters mentality of Provodnikov if anything. Fight the best, simple as that. The guy can't get the big matches because he is not truly tested, even though he almost killed one of the best fighters out in Tim Bradley. Who can honestly point out fighters in that division that can take that amount of punishment and keep pushing? The huge downside to Provodnikov is his peek a boo defense which leaves him eating more punches than he needs to, which can be his downfall if not improved immediately.

Top Rank & Golden Boy do not get along so there fighters do not fight each other. Sad scene that will probably not ease up on it's grip anytime soon. And even me as a Mayweather fan, can see what a shame it is to not make the fight w Pacman for the sake of the fans who honor him and pay to watch him fight. Even though I feel it would be a boring one sided points match, with Mayweather nowhere near danger, he should still make the fight happen for everyone.

the best should fight the best but Marquez campaigns at 147 pounds.provodnikov still hasn't proven himself at 147 pounds maybe he should win a title there and then start calling people out.

I think it is more a case of Marquez recognising that he is not worth the effort. He doesn't bring him much financially nor does he contribute to his legacy, so the effort required to beat him would be pointless.

It would contribute to his legacy. He would legitimately claim a 140 belt by winning against an actual champion.

The way he obtained his 140 title was fraudulent in a sense. He didn't face a legit champion nor did he defend the title. His quest for a paper belt in a 5th weight class is really a 4th division ...not 5th.

Beating Provo would cement Marquez's place historically when you look at him from a PFP perspective.
