DC Armory, Washington, District of Columbia - Coming back from a brutal knockout at the hands of Lucas Matthysse, IBF junior welterweight champion Lamont Peterson (32-2-1, 16KOs) bounced back with a twelve round unanimous decision over previously undefeated mandatory challenger Dierry Jean (25-1, 17KOs). The scores were 115-113, 116-112 and 118-111.
After four rounds where Jean had the advantage, Peterson came roaring with punches in the fifth round - landing big shots to the head and body. Peterson continued the trend in the sixth and cut the right eye of Jean. Peterson was pounding away in the seventh, but it was Jean who came back with some hard punches to stage a rally in the first half of the eight. Peterson started coming back in the ninth and continued to press the action in the final three rounds.
