if you're talking about one man, it's harder to find a more powerful person in boxing than al haymon. especially in the advent of manny's decline, haymon gets my vote over arum.

schaeffer is a powerful guy, but he doesn't own GBP. oscar still held the majority of the shares, last i checked.

haymon's influence on boxing is hard to quantify. we don't even know any of the particulars. all we know is that big time fighters like floyd mayweather and danny garcia thank al haymon and god. in that order.

If we stopped watching boxing the whole sport would die.

The problem is, and I am guilty of it, the hardcore fans just want to watch boxing. We will ***** over the match ups and promotion, but once its fight time, its hard to not watch/order, especially if at least 1 good fighter is on.

This exactly. It's the nature of being a hardcore fan. For example, I don't like the Mayweather-Khan fight. But you know what? I'll order the damn thing. We'll piss and moan about corruption, bad match ups, sanctioning bodies and what have you, but we know there's nothing like a fight so we watch them all. Once the fights get here, we forget about all of the nonsense.
