I would find it quite difficult to believe that he was sitting around for months, eating hotdogs and watching TV, prior to the Santana fight.
I didn't say that. But he had very little time to get ready for that fight while Santana had a full training camp to get ready and was a 5-1 favorite. Bahodir is just a better fighter, that all.

He might very well be. I'm hoping that what I perceive as Santana's overconfidence and relative inexperience had more to do with it. But what, exactly, is the difference between Angelo's "full training camp" and Mamadjanov's training experience? If it's so that Bahodir only had one week to prepare for Santana, that means Angelo was originally scheduled to fight someone else. Do we know who that was? Could it be that Santana was scheduled to fight a pushover, and he knew it? If Mamadjanov took the fight on short notice, there's an excellent chance he felt ready. Certainly, his performance would seem to bear this out.

He was supposed to fight a Venezuelan puncher Ismael Barroso and he pulled out for whatever reason. He has a padded record kinda like Santana but it was still a dangerous fight I suppose.
