alvarez turned pro early, but he did have an amateur career. wilder went to the olympic qualifying tournament after 14 fights. wilder hardly knows how to box. alvarez' needed to grow up a bit before they stepped him up, but he was already a polished boxer. he was young, but he had been pro since he was 15. at 22-23 he was in with trout, and then it was on to mayweather. alvarez has almost 300 rounds under his belt as a pro. there's rumor that he actually has another 10+ fights in mexico that don't show on his record.

wilder still needs to fill out himself, but his main issue is that he needs to learn to box. he needs rounds. he has gone only 53 rounds as a pro.

i catch a lot of crap for it, but i'm realistic about wilder's movement early in his career. there's no reason to rush him, unless you want to see him lose and not make any money.

Could have swore Wilder said he and Scott were as close as boxers get. Money talks though.

Why wouldn't they put Wilder up against Chisora?

I don't think this is a bad fight. It's definitely a step up. I understand not wanting to rush things in the HW division, but it is time for Wilder to make his move.

No, it wasn't. The guy got up before the 10 count and was ready to continue.

British refs don't know what they're doing half the time.

A fight was just called back for ref incompetence or something like that

scott just barely beat the count, and he certainly wasn't doing everything he could to prove he was ready to continue. refs don't watch your knees, hands, etc. they watch your eyes, and want to see you standing and ready at 7 or 8, the way you're taught in the gym and in the amateurs. that's what the ref wants to see you do, and that's how you prove you're ready to continue,

technically, there wasn't anything but the soles of his shoes on the canvas, but that doesn't mean he had proven to the ref that he was ready and willing to continue.

you don't count to 10. you count to 9, and wave the fight off at 10.

Might be too big a jump in quality. I'm very interested.
