If you are in the Olympics and racing in the 100m final. Three men in front of you all cross the line in exactly the same time and can't be separated. You are the 4th person to cross the line, you don't not get the sliver medal nor have you finished seconded.

You were 4th to cross the line and you have finished in 4th place.

So in other words, you have the power to determine who should be in 20th place and who should be in 10 place?

How do you determine if I'm in 15th place or 11th place? Is it the first person to finish posting first gets placed first?

What's the consistency here?

It takes time to calculate the scores and doing all those little tidying up things on the first table is time consuming and tedious. I you want to go through the whole league and correct it for me, it will be much appreciated.

I had a similar discussion with some guys about a fantasy football (American) challenge. One guy was in "2nd" place with points but there were two other guys in front of him tied for first. The commissioner of the league said that the first two guys were 1st and 2nd, respectively and the guy who had the 2nd most points was in third place.

The third guy wasn't happy because 3rd place didn't pay out anything and he thought the first two guys should split the 1st place payout and he should get the 2nd place payout. The commissioner said no, one guy gets first place and the other guy gets second place. The other guy was like then how do you decide which one of those two dudes gets the higher of the two payouts if they have the same amount of points?

I shouldn't have to tell you that is wrong


Do you think if you 4th to cross the line but the 3 in front of you all tied for first place you should get a silver medal.

Maybe you think the 3 that tied for first spot you split the gold medal between them as well
