I think if he had a slicker and better trainer, he'd be a huuuuuuge problem. His will and relentlessness is crazy.

If he could just throw proper punches he'd be a problem. He wings these terrible, no power punches from way outside, and there's nothing on them. Just shorten those up so they hurt a little bit.

I can't believe the body shots he walked through. Didn't even flinch.

Did you even see one round of Angulo/Lara? Any jab in that fight was harder than any power punch he threw tonight.

Lara was dropped twice because he kept moving to his right and he threw that uppercut from a bad angle. Canelo fought a really smart fight and kept moving to Angulo's right hand. Also Canelo is a much better combination puncher than LAra culd ever be. He put those body punches together that slowed Angulo down for sure. As far as styles go just look at how easily Lara took care of Trout while Canelo struggled for stretches.

Weeks was looking for ANY reason to stop it. He had seen enough. Which told me he wanted to stop the previous round.

He was itching to stop it as soon as the round started. I didnt give Angulo one round it looked like Canelo beat him with a baseball bat. Shouldve "came on strong" earlier.

Weeks deserves a medal. Shame on Jm Gray for calling him out like that with his "poor decision"comment. Straight busch league.

Eh....other than the first 2 minutes of the first round, Kirkland beat Angulo the hell up.....and thats because Kirkland has a glass chin and got caught cold.....he was already destroying perro by the last minute of the 1st...Cintron didnt struggle with Perro that much...

Yeah, true, but I don't consider getting absolutely lit up and brutalised for a round or two, so much so that Angulo completely gassed and then just lost through exhaustion as having an easier time than this.

DEFINITELY did not take more punishment in the Lara fight

Overall he didn't but Lara did more singular damage by breaking his face with that end shot.

Go watch it again. The only difference is that Canelo was backing Angulo up, while he was chasing Lara down, which is his best way to fight and gain momentum, and Canelo hurt him with body shots in the first round. That was a very different fight though. Canelo beat Angulo up on the inside, and outside and backed him up. Lara literally covered up and stood there like a heavy bag. He would move back after landing a combo, then just stand against the ropes and cover up not moving.

Angulo would throw a bunch of pity pat shots, as he always does, then when Lara was standing completely still covering, he would then throw a hard shot, particularly when he turned southpaw to throw the left harder to Lara the southpaw.

It wasn't even remotely the same, but Angulo fought the same. He threw lots of weak shots, and arm punches until he was completely set and Lara not moving. That happened the same tonight but Canelo didn't fight like that and threw harder stuff back.

You fight differently when you actually feel your opponent breaking down and that you can land on him and hurt him. Angulo would amp up the pressure at spots when he felt he was getting through, but otherwise it was the same thing. Canelo was just better.

Good point by Paulie, a lot of people here were complaining that the Abdusalamov fight should have been stopped even though he didn't get knocked down or visibly staggered by any punch. And now, some of the same people are complaining because Angulo wasn't hurt even though he was taking a lot of punishment. Be consistent.

Abdusalamov should have been pulled out at the end of several rounds.

I think people would have liked to have seen that.

I don't think many would have been happy if he was stopped off a single shot.

Well yeah obviously it was because of the eye damage.

Key word there being "Damage".

i suppose, but Canelo was fighting with a crazy amount of intensity. These are the type of fights that damage one's career forever.

Angulo's eye healed, but i dont think he will ever be the same after this fight.

What's the difference? Stopped is stopped. And the fight was much more competitive than tonight's fight.

haha, I could see it coming....Canelo had the judges paid off....oh wait, the ref too...and Angulo because his face was a straight mess.....he should have just feigned a KO and saved us all the trouble.
