There's no standing 8 at this level, either you stop it or you wait until the guy gets dropped.

Now in hindsight, Angulo could have continued but when he took that uppercut he looked bad, I understand the ref.

from round 1 it looked dodgy, he was putting nothing behind his shots and this is a guy who always puts everything behind his shots

Exactly. We're talking ROUND 1. Some posters here are saying Canelo took his power away from him, making him gun shy. I'd believe that if they were a few rounds in, but Angulo was pitty pattying from the first bell.

Canelo dominated. I'm not upset by the fight being stopped but the timing was a bit weird. Angulo really fell flat in this one. Styles make fights, and Lara is a lot different.
