Comments Thread For: Canelo Warns Angulo: I'm a Better Fighter Now!

Saul Alvarez insists he is now a better fighter as he prepares to take on Alfredo Angulo in Las Vegas on March 8.

The former WBC light-middleweight world champion (42-1-1 30KOs) - still just 23 years of age - suffered the first defeat of his career last time out, dropping a majority decision to Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas in September.

But the manner of that loss, even though one judge somehow called it 114-114, would have been worrying for Alvarez.

He was expected to give Mayweather a stern test but in the end was taken to school by the world's number one pound-for-pound fighter.

However, he will start as a firm favourite against 31-year-old Angulo (22-3 18KOs) as he bids to get his career back on track.

I love how the Boxingscene writers put exclamation points after every statement a boxer makes just to make it seem more dramatic

Canelo's true colors are starting to show. I called this man a warrior, I take it back. His boxing skills were put on display against arguably the best boxer in our era, Floyd Mayweather. He failed. Simple and plain. Instead of taking the loss as a lesson to improve, he down played Mayweather's win. He obviously has alot to learn about being a man as well.

I now hope Angulo teaches this kid a lesson. He was already schooled and outboxed, now Angulo can teach him a lesson or two about power.

I agree, good post. Floyd made him look like an amateur.

I don't think Canelo actually learned anything from that fight. Only thing he's been doing is making excuses that Floyd ran. Floyd actually stayed in the pocket quite some time and he was the one hurting Canelo, backing him up to the ropes. Not once did I see Floyd hurt.

I don't care to see him win or lose as much as I care to see him get clocked once.

Don't be surprised if Canelo gets upset that night.
