Good fight. Maidana's aggressive come forward style is ideal for Marquez. He loves to rattle off those counters! However, Maidana always has a chance of outworking Marquez over 12 rounds.

IMO if this fight were to be made, it should be staged in Mexico City @ The Azteca. With an American referee to avoid favoritism. With both fighters promoting it in Argentina, USA n Mexico. The stadium would be packed to the max. Good farewell fight for Marquez.

Sorry fellas, Maidana's too basic, too predictable for Marquez. I can see Juan winning by stoppage. Those wild looping hooks would get countered with some very hard right and left hands.

This is a great fight for Marquez to take before retirement, better than pursuing Bradley or fcking with Provodnikov. Absolutely winnable.

Marquez has slowed down but he's still in the mix. I hope he retires soon tho. I would hate to see him end in a bad way,he's been in too many wars.

Former four-division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez and current WBA welterweight champion Marcos Maidana should fight soon. It would rake in good PPV or even if televised would bring in big numbers. Marquez (55 wins {40 ko's, 15 by decision} 7 L {6 by decision, 1 disqualification} 1 draw) even at 40 years old still produces good quality fights. Maidana (35 wins {31 ko's, 4 by decision} 3 L {All 3 by decision} 0 draws) doesn't stay behind as he continues to climb up the ladder of success. It would be a war of give and take. It could be a fast paced fight and we could see either boxer get KO'd. I hope this fight gets made, GBP make it happen. If this fight was made who would you pick to win? I give Marquez a slight edge.
That would be a great fight but JMM would pick him to pieces imo. Maybe not but people are really underrating JMM mainly because they want to underrate Bradley.

I totally agree, Maidana is "tailor-made" for JMM and JMM isn't some Broner type of hypejob.

Style wise he's perfect for JMM I just don't know if he can withstand all the pressure that Maidana is going to apply. A couple years ago I would have little doubt, but let's not fool ourselves he's slowing down. Maidana is the biggest puncher he would've face at WW and although I don't think he can KO Marquez he probabbly knocks him down at least once.

I would love to find out how this fight plays out.

Obviously I'd pick most versions of JMM, however Maidana looked liked he is undeniably in his prime [and adjusted to weight] in his last fight... so if they met next..I'd only slightly favor Marquez

I'm not sure if Juan is slippery enough on the inside to escape the bumrushes like old Morales was. I use that as a basic measuring stick due to similar experience levels and depreciated speed. No doubt he will get his opportunities to counter, so he will have to give Maidana something to think about so that he..otherwise once Marcos gets close I think juan takes considerable damage

edit: best type of fights to see jmm in thats for sure

Yes indeed ppl underrate this 2 boxers. You should check out my other thread. "Timothy Bradley not given proper credit for won fights". Also JMM gets discredited for being knocked down a few times but has lost 6 by decision n 1 by disqualification. No loss by ko or tko. Not bad for a 40 yr old light/welter still going at it despite being in wars like a MF. I think he fought a more experienced version of Bradley. I guess that's why they're called "Desert Storm" n "Dinamita"aka"Warquez".

Sadly its a fight that wont happen isnt jmm top rank and chino golden boy?
I agree with some comments on here alot of sleeping is being done on marquez to undermind bradley but truth is jmm kept up with the best version of bradley who I think can beat pac in a rematch and give floyd problems. Jmm maidana is the only fight that makes sense for him
