1.5 Million? Manny's last fight only did 475k.Comment

Pac is never going to fight above 150 (even though his fans like to claim 154 as one of the eight weight classes he has won a title in) so this matchup will generate exactly $0.Comment

Sure Manny's fight was vs Rios, who has no appeal to casual fans what-so-ever. The fight was in China and up until 2 days before they were advertising it as a Sunday a.m. fight (that is when is actually was on Chinese time). The undercard....******... Tor Hamer.. quitter.
Manny vs any known opponent in the US will do in the 750k-1 million range.
Pac vs Bradley WAR II is on. It will do very well on PPV as Bradley's fan support has grown by leaps and bounds. That fight with a decent undercard will do 1.2-1.45 million buys.Pacquiao needs to win and look good doing so,which will not be easy as I belive that Terrible Tim is the most improved boxer of the last 4-5 years, hands down.
Canelo has a big following and a fight between 2 huge names will sell well over 1.3 million for curiousity alone. Now if they are both coming off of BIG wins and impressive...then closer to 2 million PPV buys easily.

Showtime doesn't have a lot of non-PPV fights scheduled. Subscribers who subscribed just for boxing are not getting their money's worth. If Arum is given the same amount of marketing money and allowed to add strong undercards, he could do far better.
Showtime makes less than they spend as opposed to HBO spending less and making more.
SHO is possibly losing money on Mayweather's fights. Every direction they face is costing them huge amounts of money starting from Mayweather's guarantee. Every move Schaefer makes, he spends thousands of dollars, if not millions. Arum does it quid pro quo, or "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours." For example, when he sends Pac/Marquez to Mexico, Mexican promoters are footing the bills for the tour; same way Macau casino operators paid for Rios/Pac tour, and presence, in exchange for promoting their business, etc.
That's why PPV numbers don't paint a complete picture. How many PPVs do they have to sell to pay for Mayweather's guarantee? Go figure.
Many of their stars are on a long layoff. Where is Matthysse, Guerrero, Ortiz, Berto, Peterson, Khan, etc? SHO is supposed to be making truckloads of money on Mayweather fights. That doesn't seem to be the case. I rarely see Bernstein, Kenny, et al.
Right now, SHO is probably looking for funds to fund another expensive Mayweather fight. They can't afford to lose money just to make another Guerrero-type disaster.Comment

Had to respond to this asinine statement. Shotime has been the FAR better boxing since 2012 (and yes I subscribed strictly for boxing). You have gotten great events on Shotime, while you have boxing matches on HBO. You get 3-4 fight cards on Shotime, while you get 1-2 fight cards on HBO consistently. I am going to go out on a limb and say you didnt see the great ShoBox The New generation on the 17th?Showtime doesn't have a lot of non-PPV fights scheduled. They made an average of one boxing event per month last year. You don't count PPV's, you pay for them whether you're a subscriber or not.Had to respond to this asinine statement. One fight a month is 12 fights or 12 weeks over the course 52 weeks. That's like 12 days of fights and the other 353 days are spent on waiting, waiting, waiting. This should not be the case if the money they spend on expensive Mayweather fights, which are PPVs anyway, are spread over, and many fighters would benefit as well as fans.Comment

Lmao...wtf does any of that have to do with the question? You really need to crawl out of Pacquiaos ass and jump off Mayweathers ****. Seriously. If Arum is given the same amount of marketing money and allowed to add strong undercards, he could do far better.

All the person asked was how many ppvs Pacquiao-Canelo would sell. Thats it. You then proceed to write an absolutely atrocious paragraph talking about how much money showtime loses because of Mayweather's guarantee. Who gives a ****? Not only do you not know if what you're saying is actually true, but it doesn't matter. Its irrelavent. If showtime loses money on Mayweather fights, Thats their problem. Mayweathrr gets paid regardless.
You people weren't saying any of this babble when Pacquiao was selling 1 mill+ ppvs, now all of the sudden you're ****ing network analyists that break down how much a company loses or gains as a result of promoting a fight. You people are nuts.Comment
