Comments Thread For: Lamont Peterson provides as many questions as answers

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - Maybe Lamont Peterson really believes it.

To be sure, his pointed answers to the obvious questions would have one think he’s put what happened the last time he got into a professional boxing ring – a devastating three-round loss to Lucas Matthysse in which he was bounced off the canvas three times – in the rear-view mirror.

“Getting over the loss? That happened in one day,” he said. “Who cares about the knockout? It's part of boxing. That's what happens. You pick yourself up and you move on. At this point, it's in the past. Who cares? As a fighter, you have to block that out and you keep moving. As far as me moving on, I'm a fighter. I train hard, give it my all and we go out there and we fight. It's always going to be the same with me. Who cares about what happened in last fight?” [Click Here To Read More]

Reading this makes me feel that Lyle has literally never seen Marco Huck in the ring. I don't recall Wladimir Klitschko getting home decision (how can you even compare these two guys?) and Huck made his career winning fights he actually lost. Arslan was one of them, he beat Huck fair and square and then just got robbed.

Also, Dierry Jean has a better shot at dethroning Peterson than people think.

That "belts don't matter" thing is BS. I remember Eddie Chambers saying something like "if you want to get to the level where belts don't matter, first you have to win a couple of belts". Peterson is nowhere near that level, so for him, belts very much matter.

He can talk tough about it just being a loss, but we'll see in his next fight when he gets hit again, how he really feels. If he's anything like Bute he should retire.
Though what does he have going for him? He can't draw, boring to watch,
busted for drugs and that's just the obvious.

I support Lamont. Despite the PED allegations and truths I still think he's one of the 'good' guys of boxing.
