    10 athletes who went broke

    http://www.mensfitness.com/leisure/s...the-poor-house

    1. Evander Holyfield
Mike Tyson may have taken a bite out of his ear in 1997, but Evander's been taking a bite out his own checking account ever since. Though Holyfield earned over $230 million during the course of his career, the former heavyweight champion, who once purchased a 109-room mansion, is pretty broke. Oh…and the mansion was repossessed and auctioned off last year. His shortcomings? Child support. Reports surfaced last year than Holyfield still owed a whopping $327,858.

    3. Mike Tyson
The mere mention of “Iron Mike” used to send chills down the spine of fans and fellow boxers alike, but he must have been the only one feeling afraid when he filed for bankruptcy in 2003. From his expensive divorce to his penchant for exotic animals (he owned tigers), it’s no surprise Tyson’s reported $300 million in career earnings went down the drain. But Tyson’s had a bit of a comeback recently, his latest book Undisputed Truth has done well, and with some recent movie cameos and public appearances, he seems to be doing much better these days.

    10. Latrell Sprewell
The quote will live on forever. In 2004 the NBA veteran was offered a three-year, $21 million dollar deal by the Minnesota Timberwolves. Sprewell famously declined the offer, claiming that it was not enough money for him to continue to “feed his family.” Then, he and his agent inexplicably declined every offer over the next year, claiming that they were all well below his talent level. A couple years later Sprewell was out of the league and dead broke. His yacht was seized and sold in a public auction, and he couldn’t make his monthly mortgage payments. Hindsight is 20/20, but wonder what Sprewell is thinking now?

This is for all the dingbats who think floyd is immune to what happens to more and more athletes.

When I think of broke I think of people struggling to eat and no money to buy clothes etc. These celebrities that are classed as broke always look like they are still living a very comfortable life.

No duh nobody's immune to it. But some people here are wishing for him to go broke just so they can have their little laugh which is pretty pathetic

Floyd will be fine. His lottery soda business is doing pretty well.

Allen Iverson's infamous downfall has to be on this list. The guy accumulated something ridiculous like 200 mil (his contract plus endorsements) during his career...and currently has a networth of negative 1 million.

I heard he has a Reebok trust fund that will make him rich one day again -- but the catch is he can't even touch it til he's like nearly 60 or some ****

The sad story of Rocky Lockridge comes to mind. Once an amazing fighter with a crowd pleasing style, but during his post fighting days he truly hit rock bottom.

This... For a lot of these guys, it means they are close to broke on the books only from what their accountants tell them. They owe a lot of money to a lot of people ect. They are still living very nicely. Holyfield is still living in a nice house. Tyson still has always lived in a nice house and drove nice cars.

Think of Michael Jackson when he died. He supposedly owed hundreds of millions of dollars but he also was still living in a mansion. The accountants move the money around and take out loans ect.

Boxing has tons of guys who are truely broke, living back in the ****** again. Tyson and holyfield are not it.
