Is the HBO Booth better without Roy Jones?

This is a very good thread..
We all have a difference of opinions and are expressing them without bashing too much..

I like Roy, but hes a hit or miss..
He does see things that the so called experts dont see, and offer explinations of why a fighter is doing what he is doing..

I dont like lampley anymore.. too much of a cheerleader and really pushes hbo fighters

max is usually good, and somewhat fair

I think so. The last fight was commentated perfectly without him there. I would like to see HBO mix it up with other boxers in the booth. Ward does okay sometimes, but I'd like to see them widen their horizon.

I don't what commentary you were watching but the commentators were ****ing horrible. Lampley was about to cry and ****ing menstruate in front of the camera. THE WHOLE HBO commentators team should be fired and revamped including the guy at the top of their boxing division (if there is one).

Roy probably be the bright spot TBH.

To answer the thread though, Roy definitely has his faults. There are plenty of times where I'm really trying to figure out what he is getting at. Having said that though, I honestly don't mind him. I like him there.

I totally agree with you on pushing or marketing the fighters. It's so freaking obvious. Not really doing any good for HBO is it?

Glad you brought up Bradley Prov, anyone who says he is knowledgeable and provides brilliant insight HAS TO re-watch the HBO broadcast. Bradley was stumbling, fumbling, falling, tumbling, and plunging around the ring, yet Roy was saying since the punches were hitting him on top of the head it doesn't hurt him? In the early exchanges where Bradley had jelly legs, and glazed eyes he was saying that it was Prov who was hurt! I dont want to hear how brilliant he is as a commentator, that was an outright disgrace, and the fans deserve better then to be lied to. Joe Rogan once said, if you don't see it, you cant say it, Roy was either incompetent or lying during Bradley Prov. Either way, He is useless, and not worthy of broadcasting at the highest levels. BTW, he kept arguing last night that Mike Perez had one punch power, I guess his word is gospel, just ask Takam.

Yeah, the Prv/Bradley call was terrible, I was watching the fight and Bradley's getting ****** up yet RJJ keeps saying Bradleys punching are hurting Prov LOL wha twas he lookin at???

HBO crew isn't that good. There is no more flow or connection there like before Steward and Merchant left.

Showtime has a crew, whether you like them or not that flows, and they all connect right up to Brian Kenny in the post fight. It makes watching Showtime much more enjoyable for me.

I still prefer Lampley over Kenny but Paulie is definitely miles better than RJJ, the guy is relatively young compared to the old guys we always see on HBO but he is insightful, often unbiased and always to the point.

Roy can be objective...but some times he makes me wonder!
