Comments Thread For: Paez: Erik Morales is My Idol - But It's My Time Now!

Jorge 'Maromerito' Paez will travel this weekend to Big Bear, California, to begin his training camp for the fight against four-time world champion Erik "Terrible" Morales on March 22 in Monterrey. Although Páez considered Morales as a his idol when he was growing up, he says the veteran's time is now over in pro boxing and he will certainly retire after they collide.

Poor Morales. Just another in the long line of infinite examples of fighters who can't call it quits.

What does he have to gain here? Few extra bucks?

I was just rewatching Morales vs Garcia 1 the other day and had a old washed up Erik up by a few rounds until he started gassing out in the 10th round. Garcia's nose and face were busted...he broke Garcia's nose with a veteran move somewhere around those late rounds. If he trains and has decent conditioning and is 40% of his prime he could cause some problems for Paez.

Morales was most definitely beating Garcia prior to the knockdown [but then the knockdown happened]. Either way, I think that was Morales' last stand. I trully believe he's finished!
