Best to stay retired. He says that he injured his acl or whatever tendon/muscle it was. If that is the case being prone to such an injury does not warrant a return. The division is in a weak state however so the return of a fighter who was a notch below average at best wont hurt things.
Vitali may return

As for Rahman, he beat Barrett, Meehan, and those five tomato cans, that is way more warranted of a title fight, than coming off a two year layoff, and getting a shot.
Rahman did it in the ring, if Vitali gets a shot, he will not have done it in the ring.
chris byrd went over a year without defending a title and then defended it against the most underserving opponent possible. he may as well have been retired for 2 years himself... and he still had the pleasure of calling himself "champ"
if vitali gets a shot he will most assuredly have gotten it because of what he has done in the ring whether you can accept it or not. its not like emeritus status is a brand new idea they made up for vitali.Comment

If Vitali gets a shot, it will be another travesty perputuated by the WBC. How can you be off for a year and 2 months and still get a title shot? Comparing Byrd's situation, who beacuse of his promoter could not fight more frequently, to Vitalis siutation is ******. Its like apples and oranges. Plus, Byrd fought the best comptetion that was out there and that his evil promoter allowed him to fight. Look what happens when he splits form King, he goes out and picks a fight with a guy(Wlad) he already lost to, and because he is a warrior, he wants revenge. He goes and picks the tuffest fight out there.Originally posted by Hitman932chris byrd went over a year without defending a title and then defended it against the most underserving opponent possible. he may as well have been retired for 2 years himself... and he still had the pleasure of calling himself "champ"

Now if Vitali does get a shot, then good for him, but he does not deserve one.Last edited by ChrististheAnswer2; 02-09-2006, 05:30 PM.Comment
