Golden Boy Promotions has scored the first victory in their contract dispute with former champion Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero. Last week, BoxingScene.com reported that Guerrero's lawyer initiated the process to break his promotional contract with Golden Boy through an arbitration with the California State Athletic Commission. Guerrero, through his attorney, claims the contract he signed prior to last May's fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. - is illegal and violates the Muhammad Ali Act.

Never liked Guerrero and i never will LOL cant hate on his hustle tho...this ***** did nothing yet claimed to be the only Mexican 5 time world champ in 5 weight classes (Oscar alresdy done it and Guerrero only held 2 titles...) and he got paid a decent salary to lose every second of every round to Floyd. But I'm glad he's getting forced to stay in a contract he signed willingly cuz its obvious he's making lies to Break it now, play victim and try to fight Manny without having fought and earned it mind you. Make his punk ass stay with GBP and get beat on by Thurman or sit on the shelf like a coward till the world forgets about him and his ****** dad...but bless his wife and kids tho i wish the best for them

i really dont get it...Guerrero hits the Mayweather lottery something that isnt taken for granted and even more if you basically are a noname like himself and gets paid more money than some fighters would even dream about and now he wants an out of his contract? Could somebody explain me what was so "illegal" about his contract?
