Truly disagree with the masses on this fight. Stylistically it's a very winnable fight for Miguel.
Sergio's speed is insanely overrated. He gasses as bad as Cotto does. He's not a high volume pressure guy either, generally the guys Cotto has trouble with. Plus, weight division be damned...make no mistake, Austin Trout is a bigger man than Sergio Martinez.
The one thing that concerns me is that Martinez can crack. If Cotto's chin can stand up to Martinez's power I think he has a good chance.Comment

If you watch him, He just punches correctly with all his body, but on balance, and precise. Not arm punches that seem to paralyze fighters in some fights, and just look like weak arm punches in others, after being caught with loaded gloves. This man throws punches as technically sound as any fighter I've seen. He's not a killer like Julian Jackson, or Ernie Shavers, or Mugabi. He's more like Chavez Sr. or Arguello. Fighters who place punches so well that you think they are one punch power punchers, but they really have just average power, with great placement. So the My answer to the plausibility, is no. He doesn't need any help.Comment

Speed overrated? Tell that to Pavlik and Macklin. Gasses as bad as Cotto? He's known for his terrific stamina. While he's not a pressure guy, he can certainly bring the volume. He threw over 900 punches against Chavez. And the guy who gets hurt by Manny Pacquiao is not taking the straight lefts of Sergio Martinez. Martinez has all the tools Trout used to trouble Cotto.Truly disagree with the masses on this fight. Stylistically it's a very winnable fight for Miguel.

1. Pavlik and Macklin fight as if they have cement in their shoes. Plus that was several years ago and two knee surgeries before.Speed overrated? Tell that to Pavlik and Macklin. 2. He does have a big tendency to gas, he also has the ability to dig deep when needed.
3. Throwing 900 punches is easy for a world class fighter when your opponent isn't throwing any punches and fights as if he's under water.
4. Prime Manny Pacquiao Throwing 1000 punches with such speed and from all sorts of angles is totally different type of challenge than what Sergio represents. Not really comparable. There is a reason why Prime Pac was feared after that Cotto FightComment
