Holyfield was well well passed it in 96 but I think 96 Holyfield was much better than 96 Tyson (Although it didn't seem that way at the time)
yes the best time for that fight was 89-90,, I just feel that holyfield in his prime was pretty much indestructible, plus he could still get on his toes and throw combinations..
I read some books on both, and have heard about the sparring sessions between them at olympic trials, and holyfied getting the better of tyson because he wasnt afraid of him,, and also tyson's camp always kinda had an excuse to not fight holy,,, they had no interested in 88,89 but once holyfield established himself at #1 contender tyson lost to douglas,, but tyson then chased fights with tillman n stewart, then ruddock twice, then pulled out with an injury for holy, then jail, and it wasnt till holyfield looked old and had been stopped and struggled with bobby cyzc that tyson's camp made the fight

I always envisioned this fight with tyson scoring a knockdown in the first round and leading on the cards early, but after about 6 rounds tyson would slow little by little and eventually holyfield would outwork him late and stop mike in about the 10th or 11th with tyson probably being up on the scorecards at the time of stoppage

Tyson-holyfield to me was on par with floyd-manny,,, i thought that was the biggest fight ever for that era pre-prison tyson..

I also heard LL used to do very well in sparring with Tyson, and Holyfied sparring with Tyson and doing well is news to me.

But Tyson must have been thinking after koing all his pro opponents that his sparring partners gave him tougher fights.

But as far as im concerned Tyson and holyfield and LL never fought. Tsyon didn't fight holy as he went to prison, and Tyson never fought LL as LL was touted as a future opponent and just a prospect.

tyson beat up lewis the first few sparring sessions and lewis got him back in a couple of the sessions. (i think a prime tyson might have been hell for lewis)

I agree. It seems fashionable to say LL would beat any version of Tyson. But a prim Tyson even if it was short few would bet against him.

I think Tyrell Biggs possibly fought a prime Tyson and said Tyson was the best he fought, and not LL.

I've had it with these horsetards! Who did that horse beat in his prime who was a full sized heavyweight? Who? Name one!

Maybe but I think the Tyson with way more movement of his head and feet and combinations is a different animal. But Holy might still have him. Even if I thought he would I'd still think Tyson would do better all around if you took both at their prime and put them against all the history's top 20 heavies. My opinion.

                Evander Holyfield.

Evander Holyfield. It's not even close. Is Tyson a top 10 all-time heavy? Is he the greatest Cruiserweight Champion ever? Tyson steered away from Holyfield for a reason back in 88-90. That version of Holyfield would've destroyed Tyson like he did in96 but a little faster. Boxing has never seen a Heavyweight like him, ever. He had everything you wanted in a fighter and liked the challenge of proving people and his opponents, wrong. Tyson was a product of good match making like Floyd, Hopkins, and Roy. Floyd isn't accustomed to fighting guys as good as himself, therefore when he does, he doesn't look all that great. It was the same with Hopkins during his reign at Middleweight. Who did those historic 20 title defenses come against? Roy fought a lot of cab drivers, firemen, and cops, just like Tyson. Every time Tyson stepped up against an opponent with skill, he lost. Douglas, who was a punk, Holyfield, and Lewis. Who loses to Buster Douglas????? Smh. As I've stated before, Holyfield easily has not only the better resume, but one of the greatest resumes for a heavyweight, ever.
