That'd be cool, Kirkland gets KTFO though
Doubt he goes cheaper, he got mad when he didn't get what he wanted against Canelo and said he had an injury and then vanished. This was for his first PPV fight too, so Kirkland would've made some money.Oughta be Geale without a doubt, but I'm guessing they might figure they can get Kirkland cheaper and he brings better US name recognition.
I'll be very disappointed if they go down the Kirkland route if the Geale fight's a realistic option - at some point they need to start putting up the money for the proven MW names.
Kirkland does have plenty of experience at MW but obviously his biggest wins have been at JMW. Not that it's a bad fight, but it just doesn't do much for GGGs credentials at 160.Comment

Oh yea? Who has Kirkland fought at 160 better than canelo? Its official golovkin fans have went full ******.I know Kirkland has been in with better guys then Canelo for sure...If GGG fought Canelo, a guy who weighs 172 on fight night would that be an issue as well?
Murray,Martinez,Sturm want no part of GGG at this point. Gaele turned down the fight in Monaco to try and land an HBO date so its not like GGG is ducking any of them.Comment

Only reason it'd be okay is because Canelo's a name. Other than that, half the fights since he won his titles have been against WW'sI know Kirkland has been in with better guys then Canelo for sure...If GGG fought Canelo, a guy who weighs 172 on fight night would that be an issue as well?

Here it is.
Never say never in the world of boxing and strange things happen on a weekly basis. But once you think that you've seen everything in this business, something happens that makes you shake your head in disbelief. Earlier today, BoxingScene.com was advised that James Kirkland was still feeling pain in his right shoulder and he wouldn't be able to move forward with a scheduled fight with WBC junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on September 15th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Turned down almost a milli to fight Canelo demanding 2.5 million..... Canelo didn't even make that much back then.
Most I see him getting offered is 400k and Golovkin 600k if they're still hanging with a budget....even then, that's already more than their total budget of the last fight.
If that happens, Golovkin can still fight 4 times a year, but same format he's been doing...1 overseas, 3 here on HBOComment

I remember him doing that. I think James may be in a much better place mentally then he was back then. And I dont see why they would take the fight with GGG when they could fight Lara,Molina again and eventually Canelo and have a shot against all 3.Here it is.
