Deontay Wilder vs. Fres Oquendo for WBA title?

Fres Oquendo, who is currrently sparring with Artur Szpilka, has told the Polish media he has a fight with Deontay Wilder in the works for May 3 in Las Vegas.

He says it will be for the WBA "world" heavyweight title. Fres says he will have a warm-up beforehand in Chicago in February.

no surprise there. another washed up inactive fighter to add to his list. the sad thing is a washed up inactive oquendo would still quite possibly be his best opponent to date

lol.... Wilder was 7th in their last ratings update.
Fres is only one spot higher at #6.
You telling me you're going to have the vacant title...the one Wlad just destroyed, up for grabs between the #6 and #7?

A step in the right direction IMO.

I don't think I'd be too surprised if The big-O bowled Windmiller over.

              For a "title" though?

The WBA is so awful it's scary. But of course Wilder's got to take the opportunity. He'd be out of his mind not to. Hope Oquendo can give him some decent rounds for the experience. Wilder needs the rounds. Liakhovich could have given him good experience if he didn't get blown out. Same with Oquendo. He could get wrecked in thirty seconds, he could give him a chance to get some veteran tricks if he lasts just a little bit.

I thought they were cleaning up their act after the MW debacle.... the hell are they doing now?

wilder in the top 10 with his resume is bad enough but how an old,, washed up,, inactive oquendo who hasnt beaten a legit contender in years got in there is mind boggling
