all Im saying is that im not a cuban boxing hater. I like Rigo

but at the same time there is a reason why Abril has to fight in russia.

Dont get all butt hurt because I dont like a cuban fighter....It makes you sound like the cuban version of PRbOXINGCOTTO

CU****UYNYC is a reasonable guy to talk boxing with and he doesnt think every cuban fighter is a GOAT because they are cuban.
Believe me I'm not trying to sound hard over a computer!! Just don't like the insults for no reason.
I can name a bunch of other non Cuban fighters I like:
Ward, mayweather, Russell jr, Prescott, Marquez, Sergio Martinez, Danny garcia, etc so do me the favor and don't Compare me to prboxingcotto or whatever his name is

Yes I love baseball and to me cubans are the best fERNANDEZ Puig Cespedes Chapman etc

Yes Lara runs his mouth on twitter all the time. He talked a big game against that scrub vanes...and then ran. I was going for Lara and thats when he lost me as a fan.

Abril showed up to versailles in Miami got in Rios face muffed him and ran away...WTF

then in the ring he ran and clinched not cool...

Rigo doesn't talk ****...out of all te cubans he has room to but he doesn't.
Lara does twit it's his manager...Lara doesn't even know English!!
As for the Vanes fight Lara was starting to come on strong as he usually does bc he's a slow starter. His jab cross was starting to land cleanly on Vanes!!
Abril vs rios do me a favor and watch that fight again and tell me when Abril ran or clinched
As for the Versailles incident it got him the fight didn't it?

haha idk who that is but I defend rigo

Trust me it aint easy being a Mex boxing fans..Pr FANS come at us because of the rivalry...filipinos (*******s) were very annoying especially when donaire was doing his thing too. They have since quieted down since JMM and Rigo took out their fighters.

You guys seems to come out of no where now with the hate. We get it from all sides and always will

          rigo and gamboa I like

Abril and lara i dont...and lara talks **** on his twitter in spanish.

I would bet my last dime, that if you faced the same overwhelming numbers, your enthusiasm for Mexican fighters would rocket into space.

I don't think we Cubans think all our fighters are "untouchable" at all. What might make it appear so is that we have very few pros (50-60 worldwide); but the overall level of quality is extremely high. We currently have four current world champions, not including interim champs. That puts us fourth on the list of leading countries, behind the U.S., Japan and Mexico, all countries with populations many times that of Cuba. The few fighters we have are good. At least one is the very best in his division. We are right to support them.
Great post. I made a thread a while back highlighting and contrasting Cuban and Mexican styles and claiming a new rivalry (replacing PR v mex)

A Mexico v Cuba rivalry in boxing should be explored and made a concept by these so called true fans/journalists. Fights between these two are for the most part always exciting. The styles compliment each other.

I think it can eventually happen. The biggest hurdle would be to get some Cuban fans interested. It would take a couple of real battles to stir up some emotions. Emotions get stirred and interest rises. If even a minor rivalry is stoked, Cubans will gain greater interest and come out to see fights in general. It might take a while, but I think I'll live to see it. lol

Yes, proper promoting and not being afraid to explore and break certain barriers is what is missing from these promoters, no tienen cojones. Cater to our fan base

There is a growing interest, at least from the feedback I get from fellow cubans in miami. I ask "viste a Rigo?" they say "le gano al filipino" and have decent knowledge on Rigo's amatuer background. Everyone knows Gamboa it seems, and Lara is being talked about left and right.

It's up to our promoters to exploit this market.

Can't tell you how much I enjoy hearing that, bro. It has to start somewhere. A mighty oak grows from the tiniest acorn. If our guys keep winning, the interest will naturally grow. Everyone loves a winner, and wants to be associated with one.

It looks like Caribe wants to do a show with Rigo in Miami. They need to promote the hell out of that thing. I'll be one of the first ticket buyers.
