This is how May 3rd SHOULD play out

Floyd should face maidana, he is hot and fresh in the peoples minds (1.3 million viewers) and he is the WBA welterweight champion.

a unification fight between floyd and maidana would do more business personally because it can be marketed in a number of different ways.

maidana has a punchers chance and khan does not.

maidana beat floyds friend broner khan did not

maidana has the WBA strap khan does not

floyd should go for unification at 147. marketing wise for his last four fights if he unified a belt in each fight it would be huge.

khan should face porter on the undercard for the IBF title if possble or rematch danny garcia at 147.

if floyd decides to fight Khan it would still be a good fight just not as historical.

The problem is that khan is vulnerable in any fight he takes. Right now he is the biggest draw of anyone available and he can't fight in September due to his fasting so if its not May its another year. Just by staying busy Khan could take another loss and kill the possibility of a Floyd fight, which is Golden Boy has been hyping this guy up for years to get done.

from a marketing standpoint I would like to see him unify the titles at 147 then move up to 160 both are historical accomplishments. unifying the titles at 37 years of age would be another feather in his cap.

        147 - may 3rd wba madiana
147- sep 4th IBF (khan/garcia or whichever one can beat porter)
147 -may 5th WBO tim bradley
147- sep 9th - manny pacquiao for the unified 147 title

its not the right time for a khan fight to me. he needs to have an impressive victory at 147 to get me excited about floyd facing him.

Khan hasnt fought in close to a year and maidana is on a hot streak four wins in a row at 147 he is clearly the more credentialed opponent 9notice i didnt say dangerous, maidana nor khan are a threat to floyd.

I'm pretty sure it's going to be Maidana. The fans will accept that fight more than Khan. And Maidana really isn't a threat for Floyd. It's a fight he should and will win easily.

Even though I'm not really excited for it, Maidana has earned it more than Khan. Khan tried to play it safe and avoid Alexander. Shouldn't have done that. He needed a good win.

Those are good points why Floyd should fight Maidana instead of Khan. Too bad the people in charge of who Floyd will fight in May decided over a month ago that he will fight Khan and nobody else. Pray for Khan getting an injury in training bad enough that he can't be ready to fight in early May. Then you might get Floyd-Maidana.

From a marketing standpoint, Khan is simply a bigger fight. Like it or not.
