    Ultimate destroyer: Golovkin + Kovalev = This monster

    What happens when you combine two of the baddest punchers in boxing.

    You get this animal right here;

    Gennady Gennadiyevich Kovalev

    GGK is an absolute beast and saved many boxers careers and possibly lives by never turning pro.

        Negative. This guy is a fraud. He was instead GB'ed by Rigo.

            Yeah..OK - Good One. That was an LOL.

            Yeah, the kid was a pretty good am and most who follow the EE ams already knew of the humour value, but still...

            For some reason the kid reminds me of UK celebrity chef Jamie Oliver.

                Rather a small guy for a supposed Frankstein monster.

                And how come he ventured into MMA instead of Boxing
                ?

                  If you googled it and found the MMA 200lber, I'm not sure it's the same kid, Kovalev is not an unusual surname and Gennady not an unusual first name - it's possible, I guess, but the AM boxer was a 5'8" 140lber. More like likely a different guy...there's a Sergei Kovalev in the MMA records as well.

                  Kids who can fight a bit who want to stay in Russia can likely get into MMA quicker and more easily than into boxing where they'd be expected to have proved their Am credentials first. After Fedor MMA has become increasingly popular in Russia - (though curiously has yet to impact a lot in the Central Asian Republics where wrestling was always something of a speciality).
