IMO I feel that pac will forever be remembered as a ATG while floyd will fade away as a great once he retires or loses since he never dared to step into the ring with the greats/atg's of manny's era ...... You sure as hell can't be talking about Ricky Hatton, who Floyd TKO'ed 1 year and a half prior. Hopefully it's not Mosley, who Floyd beat when he was still seen as dangerous, or Marquez who Floyd handily beat in the same weight class that he KO'ed Pacquiao? Oh, you're talking about Cotto? Yeah, Floyd did the Pacquiao and fought after he already lost, but still a solid win over the #1 ranked JMW.

Not really. Simply because a segment of the boxing community is salivating over a fight like this doesn't mean Floyd or Manny for that matter must be ultimately defined by each other. I can't imagine that one fight not happening ends up being so damaging to a fighter's career that has been defined by excellence.

What, Floyd is to be denied because some loonies thought Pacquiao was the one to beat him, and since he didn't give them that satisfaction Floyd's legacy is tarnished? Please.....

It was the biggest fight the sport could have had in some 20 years, at least. Casuals and hardcore fans alike will forever mention Pacquiao and Mayweather in the same sentence, decrying them for never getting in the ring with each other.

Just compare the De La Hoya fight for Pacquiao, with the one with Floyd. Floyd did not have any say in the ring size, he fought at a weight class above his, I think De La Hoya got to pick the gloves, everything was against Floyd with De La Hoya compared to when Manny fought him.

i like ward but to criticize catchweights is very hypocritical of him. he hasn't even dared stepping out of his comfort weight zone, while pac climbed 7 divisions already. and you can't criticize manny for the delahoya fight, oscar cherrypicked him and set the weight class they'd fight in.

How come you already figure out he is ahead when what he did was just talking about fighting at heavyweight when he retired and made it as a big accomplishment compared to someone like Pac who already fought in a span of 10 divisions?

In Oscar fight, don't forget Pac came up TWO DIVISIONS above with just one fight at lightweight to boot. A former flyweight champ moving up virtually 3 divisions above to fight someone like Oscar was already an accomplishment, beating him in one sided and retired is another.
