I'm starting to think you didn't read the article?
Except thats exactly what he's doing.

No, again, he was responding to Kovalev's comments about the WBA situation. He feels Kovalev was taking indirect shots. He never said anything before because he felt they were cool, not because he was waiting for Showtime and HBO to start beefing.

He's not just coming out of the woodworks calling out Kovalev.

Kovalev brought up his name first. I guess because "Kov" feels safe due to the network beef.

Interesting that Shumenov thought things were friendly and was caught off guard by the remarks made against him. Is that the type of friend that Kovalev is?

I don't think it would be a walk in the park for Kovalev, but I doubt Shumenov is still upright after 5-6 rounds. Think I'd almost like to see this one more than Kov vs Stevenson.

Gia - the Campillo that fought Kovalev was still probably drunk. He wasn't the same fighter that fought Cloud and before that Shumenov which was 4 years ago. The facts are Campillo was in great shape for Cloud and Shumenov. For Kovalev he was NOT. Campillo broke training camp in Cali and flew back to Spain before the Kovalev fight, he was drinking, partying and had a lot of marital problems. He wasn't evening training. He missed several flights to the US and showed up less then 48 hours before he was to fight in the US on Friday. The promoters took his passport because they were afraid he would not show up to fight as he disappeared once upon arriving in the US. The only reason he stepped into the ring that night was to collect his $20K paycheck. So please quit comparing apples to oranges. I like Campillo and all the light heavies but people need to know the truth. Also, the truth is that Campillo was offered a rematch with Shumenov but he lost the Cloud fight then.

In Sergey's first 15 fights, he was fighting guys with records of 1-3, 6-20, 17-15, 9-23. There will always be haters of fighters but the truth of the matter is Shumenov's record in his 15 fights is unheard of and amazing when you compare it to others. In Shumenov's 5th fight, he was fighting a guy 26-2 while Kovalev was fighting a guy 6-20.
Serioga you make me lough! Who are you? Beibut's PR menager? Spreading rumors about Kovalev being a rasist (ask his trainer and friend about it) and hyping up ATG Shumenov... Doing a good job my friend.

Shumenov somehow has one of the most ridiculous championship records in all of boxing. Since winning the title off Campillo (by what was widely considered a robbery) 4 years ago he's fought 5 times, and only one of these opponents - Uzelkov could reasonably considered top 20. The last, Kovacs was ranked about 105 by Boxrec.

I don't think Kovalev is particularly having a personal dig at Shumenov, more commenting the corruption and ridiculousness of a sanctioning body that rewards a record like Shumenovs with a Super belt. Seriously - what has Shumenov done to even vaguely deserve it?

The sad thing is that Shumenov is actually a pretty decent fighter - certainly he's a lot better than the Mu**** of this world and he's a big, powerful and tricky fighter who I think could give BHop quite a tough time.

Tudor - You make me "laugh" at your spelling. Good lord, learn how to spell simple words so you don't make yourself sound so ****** when you post. I am a boxing fan who follows stats and I actually prefer Hopkins of the 4 light heavyweight champs. In regards to Sergey being a racist (or as you wrote rasist whatever that is), Sergey is the one who said the derogatory and slanderous comments towards African Americans in print and video on allboxing.ru. I just read them as did everyone else in the Russian community and was sickened by his comments as were most posters on allboxing.ru.

I'm Russian and I live in Moscow - English is not my native language. So I make mistakes. But you have a right to call me ****** for it if it makes you feel better. Keep trying making people think that Kova is racist and Shumenov is a great hero of boxing. You can also keep lieing about how most posters were sickened by his comments on allboxing.ru. His comments where not racist actually - it was just about one fighter and it was personal. He also said that "I'm not racist - I understand that there's different people in all nations." He said that while being in US he often saw aggressive behavior from some African Americans - more often than from people of other nations. Is it racist? May be. To me it's just an observation of what he saw. Also russians didn't have to deal with years of enslaving other nation the way it happened in US. So this thing is not as charged over hear as it is in US. If you ask me – I often see it over exaggerated. I would say that looking from aside it often looks like inverse version of racism . Beibut is a real hero talking about fighting Kovalev when he’s with GBP and Kovalev is with HBO. But you can keep trying belittling Kovalev’s wins and hyping up Shumenov. Problem is most people here can see the fights themselves and quality of boxing say it all.

Tudor - I knew you were Russian by your incorrect comments earlier. No problem, you like Kovalev. Be proud of it, support who like. I prefer Hopkins as I mentioned not Shumenov but as I can tell you don't really read things thoroughly. I base things on the facts and I speak Russian fluently. I didn't point out Kovalev's disparaging remarks, they are on allboxing.ru and we all read them (if we know Russian). Kovalev said them but now since you want to lie (or make an excuse) about what Sergey said. These are the exact words that Sergey said in his interview in reference to ALL African Americans, he called them: "sunburnt guys", "pureblood nig*er "(this was in reference to the one fighter only), "inadequate", "abnormal", "nig*er", "likes them less and less everyday", etc. These are his words correctly translated. We are all boxing fans and we all support different fighters. Don't make excuses for his ignorance. I like the light heavyweight division as it has some interesting, great fights to be made. I just do not personally like racism of any kind.
