i find that too hard to swallow. he would've been 28 or 29 when he fought golota. his only loss is to holyfield and he avenged that loss with a knockout over holyfield just before this bout. maybe he took golota lightly the first time but he definitely came in prepared the 2nd time around and just needed a way out both times i think.

and theres no denying that he ducked lewis. which even though he did i still wouldve liked his chances against lewis.

golota was simply more talented than bowe for sure. many people forget or just dont know that golota was clearly beating bowe in both fights before he went low blow crazy. i question how much those low blows really hurt bowe. he took his chance to get out of a match that he couldnt win both times. history will make it look like bowe was winning and golota was desperate but that wasnt the case which makes it so much more bizarre.

bowe lacked heart too i think. he publicly ducked lennox lewis. i can think of no other fighter that was so obviously scared to fight an opponent as bowe was to fight lewis.

i agree that is why after watching bowe vs. golota the other night i started this topic....in that fight golota showed alot of his skill he had good size and power had fast hands a very good jab and overall boxing skills but lacked the disicipline he was giving bowe a real beating until the dq...as far as bowe he had heart he showed it against holyfield but he lacked the disicipline to be an all-time great things like keeping his weight down and training were not important to him the only time he truly trained hard was for his 1st. fight with holyfield...this is the reason he ducked lewis not because he was scared but he knew the type of training camp he would need to beat a guy like lewis he was not willing to do it...so he knew he would loose that fight so he just decided not to take it and make up excuses ..

Bowe had three tough fights with Holyfield and between that and the poor eating habits and then struggling to lose 40 or more pounds before fights, he was finished early. Would you argue that Tyson was passed his prime at 29 as well? Not everyone burns out at the same rate. Bowe was obviously not in his prime when he fought Golota as far as I'm concerned. We may have to agree to disagree but no one is going to convince me that the Bowe who met Golota was the same one from the first Holyfield fight.

come on man i didnt say he was the same bowe that fought in holyfield 1 but if thats the case then your saying bowe ****** after holyfield 1. like his prime was over after that fight. well he won a lot of fights after that including knocking holyfield out in the holyfield 3 fight which was the fight just before golota. and i definitely consider holyfield a lot better than golota. bowe came into the holyfield 3 fight in the best shape he had been in for years. he was around 230 for that fight when he had come in at the 240s and 250s for previous fights. then golota 1 he came in around 250 i think and was getting beat up before finding an out. then golota 2 he came in there in good shape like for the holyfield fight and was still losing. so i think even the most prime of prime bowes wouldve lost to golota.
