  • most disappointing??

i was watching bowe vs. golota 1 last night and i started to think about who are some of the most disappointing heavyweights who's career could of been great but were not and 3 came to mind bowe, golota, and ibeabuchi..

bowe: showed how great he could of been in his 1st. fight with holyfield he truly trained to the best of his abilities for this fight this version of bowe could of beat any hw of his era including lewis his training habits and weight gain between fights ruined him ..

golota: he was 28-0 going into the bowe fight was singned to main events and had duva as his trainer ...golota showed his ability in the fight with bowe except for the low blows, but he was destroying bowe in this fight ..he had good size and power a excellent jab good hand speed and threw good combinations ...but he was self-destructive i don't think he had any love for the sport but did it because it was something he was good at and could get paid for it ..

ibeabuchi: great size and hand speed and a granite chin went toe to toe against tua and destroyed chris byrd...he could of been the most intimidating boxer since the early tyson ...but much like golota he was self-destructing..

who do you guys think is the most disappointing out of these 3?

golota was dissapointing, he was a good fighter when his head was in the game, also Danny Williams is somewhat of a dissapoitment, Danny is got all the right stuff when hes focused and in shape, but often times he isnt, eventhough it looks like hes on his way up now...

bowe was a glutton, that was his fault.
ike ***ually assaulted a woman, that was his fault.

but they couldve been champions or better champions if only they kept their **** in line.

but the thing is, golota not only had the ability, but he also had the chances, the hype, the support, and the skills to succeed. but he didnt have the heart or the mentality. you cant teach heart and you cant change ur way of thinking, its not andrews fault.

but andrew had the chances, he had the ability, and he had the support but he still couldnt deliver.

what happend with golota was the most disappointing more than bowe or ike.

Bowe to me was the most dissapointing because he really had it all. Aside from talent and skill he even had the heart and personality that Golota lacked. He just couldn't keep the goddamn fork out of his mouth.

and that was HIS fault. everything that has gone wrong with bowe was HIS decision. golota cant change what he is and whats wrong with his head or heart. if golota had a different mental makeup, he wouldve been a great champion, no doubt. but bowe was his own bane, golota couldve been greater.

it wasnt andrews fault, unlike bowe.

IKE. He wouldve been great. Golota didnt have the chin nor the dicipline.

Bowe can't help that he had an eating disorder and low motivation to train either. How you can say Golotas problems were all psychological and Bowe's werent I don't understand.

Also why does it even matter? The question was who was a bigger dissapointment and Bowe was much better than Golota or Ike in my eyes, so to me he was the biggest dissapointment.

I don't know how Golata was disappointing. He is a great technical fighter, who is nuts and can't brawl only box.

an eating disorder? bull****! he was just a glutton. even his trainer and even bowe himself said that he just loved to eat, it wasnt cuz of an eating disorder.

i can say that about golota cuz his problems were all psychological. he cant take frustration or pressure. and when he loses his cool, he blacks out or freezes up or quits. THAT is psychological, its not his fault.

golota is the bigger disappointment cuz he coulve been more than bowe and ike cuz he had what they didnt: all those chances.

against bowe: he lost his cool.
against lewis: he cracked under pressure.
                  against grant: he quit.
against tyson: he lost his cool, and he quit.
                  against byrd: he was cheated.
against ruiz: he was also cheated.
                  against brewster: he froze up.

all but the ruiz and byrd fights were cuz of psychological problems. he cracked, he froze, he quit. psychological. it had nothing to do with laziness (bowe) or recklessness (ike).

golota coulve and had the chances to be more and he blew his chances. hes the biggest disappointment.

I see where you're coming from, he was the most dissapointing in that he had the most chances of any of them and continued to **** up over and over. Okay I see what you mean.

For me though, the greatest dissapointment of my lifetime will be Bowe. I think he had more potential than Holyfield, Lewis, or Tyson. It's depressing to think about.
