WBC featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez (55-8, 47KOs) expects the rematch with Abner Mares (26-1, 14KOs) to take place on either March 8 or March 15.

If the date lands on March 8th, it would be part of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez's undercard at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The rematch was scheduled for February 15th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and had to be postponed when Mares suffered a rib injury.

That's not what Schaefer was saying, but I hope it does end up on the Canelo undercard. I'll be at the Canelo fight on March 8th whether Mares is on there or not, but it'd be nice to see my two favorite fighters on the same card and kill two birds with one stone.

Gonzalez is inconsistent and has a leaky defense I anticipate mars will win decisively.
