You have a point that he refused those fights. I would have loved to see Khan vs. Marquez at 135-140. However, he did fight who he needed to at the lower weights. He has never had fast hands, quick feet nor one knockout power but he found a way to win. His career does have an amazing tertralogy.
JMM All-Time expert Cherry picker?

He is 40 years old and still rated by most to be one of the top 10 pfp fighters in the world. Because he didn't fight Guerrero and Khan doesn't mean he ducked them. He may not have liked the terms of the fights he was offered. Maybe he did not like the money he was offered. He does not have to say yes to every fight he is offered or be considered a ducker. Guerrero turned down fights with Bradley and Thurman and Khan turned down a fight with Alexander and they are young fighters so why don't you label them duckers? Marquez has fought more than his share of tough opponents and he is no cherry picker.Comment

He ducked Guerrero, he ducked Khan, he ducked Victor Ortiz back in the day, he refuses to entertain a fight with Provodnikov, and he is turning down a ridiculous amount of money to fight PAC.
He has ducked many, many fighters who he knows their style and youth will beat him, like Guerrero or Khan.
JMM is brilliant, but he is limited, and he is over-rated due to his cherry picking ways. Look at how easily Bradley out boxed him, imagine what Guerrero or Khan would've done, just picked him apart from the outside.Comment

JMM isn't much of a cherry picker considering the alternate fights he has had instead, Pac, Floyd, Bradley and so on.
What JMM is though, is the biggest whinger in the history of the sport!!!!Comment

He's in the latter stage of his career and above his best weight class. Give him a break. All I keep reading around here is Ortiz and Guerrero aren't any good and Khan is a bum. Yet, these fighters are important to JMM's career.
The guy fought Pacquiao 4x and jumped 2 weight classes to fight Floyd. He just fought Bradley. He can retire today and I'm sure he won't regret not fighting any fighter mentioned above.
JMM has done enough at the lower weights and already established his legacy.
I dont think he even cherrypicks, he has fought bradley and manny over the past 2 years, with the occassional tuneup. Nothing wrong with that. JMM is at the stage of his career where he is looking for the biggest fights, with the biggest paydays and legacy type fights... Ghost, khan, ortiz are not those types of fights...
To be fair, he should have fought morales at least once over the past few years.. That is the one fight he missed on IMOComment
