Comments Thread For: Mendez, Barthelemy Make Weight For ESPN2 Headliner

Mendez is a fighter with very good tools but he suffers from Chad Dawson-syndrome, he goes instances without punching, where his mind is literally elsewhere. He may use the shoulder roll to some good effect but he can't roll the right hand. Just saw his last fight again and it was disappointing how he missed all those opportunities to counter, especially with the counter right uppercut against the ropes.Comment

Not sure how people still pick Barthelemy. But I guess he does have a shot since Mendez gasses in the late rounds.

Saw both these guys on FNF last year against Usmanee. Both could have fought better but Usmanee is a tough little dude. Anyways I have Mendez winning this, think he'll out counter Barthelemy on way to a decision.Comment

Forgot to mention, Barthelemy fails to impress me every time out. I'll be watching closely tonight.

You're right about Mendez too but I love his style. And he's pretty darn accurate too.Originally posted by CubanGuyNYCQuote:

Barthelemy's not impressive. Then again, neither is Mendez. It'll be interesting to see who really is better tonight.

Yeah, he's more pleasing to watch than Barthelemy. Rances looks awkward; and for a guy with decent power, he has that slappy punching technique. That long neck, coupled with that flying chin, makes him look like a KO waiting to happen. Nonetheless, this isn't a beauty contest. Barthelemy has some skills, and he has some heart. If Mendez can't pressure him effectively, I think Rances will win on points.Comment
