it will be entertaining while it lasts
for that reason, don't hate the fight outright
but there's better opponents for Floyd and Khan's a cherrypick
can see people accepting this fight, but nobody should want it

Getting KOed happens, plenty of great fighters have been KOed. Lewis, Hearns, Pac etc. the public can get over that if they believe Khan brings something offensively.

Losing every round to an average boxer in the most boring fight ever in your prime doesn't make much of a case for troubling the greatest boxer of our generation.
Maidana was not prepared for the 100+ clinching tactic of Devon. Plus he was moving up and his trainer was sick. Basically it was a low in Maidana's career, yet you cats treat it like that's how he's going to perform every time out. I'll let you in on a little secret: styles make fights, yes, but you also have to look at the context to see if the fighter is even currently capable of utilizing their style efficiently against a top tier fighter like Floyd Mayweather. While in theory a long jab, with quick combos is an interesting formula against Floyd, Khan is not the one to do it based on his recent performances.

Plus, I'm encountering Broner fan level thinking here. Are you really trying to say Maidana getting clinched to death against Alexander is worse than being rocked, dropped, and stopped?

I can't negate that. But I also think that there's been put too much emphasis on how good guys like Karass, Lopez and Broner were - as well as how bad Diaz was. Not counting Molina, as he was pretty awful, though Khan did look good.

I think the intrigue for me is whether or not Khan has it in him to pull off a good performance once more. He's shaken off the Garcia fight now and if he could get back to anywhere near the level he was against PM, Maidana or Judah - then I think he stands a good chance of given us a good fight.

If I look at Maidana's absolute best performance, which was probably Broner, he still looked slow and soft around the mid-section in the mid rounds and was hurt a little by Broner as he admitted himself. If I look at that performance, I don't see anyway in hell he could cause Mayweather the slightest of problems.

So why would I want to see it more? Because he deserves it? Not my problem, give it to Porter then.
Morales did not beat him. Morales is a warrior, and he didn't let that mouse the size of texas on his eye discourage him. But he lost clean. He was outhustled and outpowered by the younger hungrier man.

Khan has not shown he shook off anything, whereas, Maidana has. Thats the whole point! Its one thing if Maidana was stopped or ko'ed by Khan, but he wasnt. Khan was running for his life in that fight and escaped with a narrow decision.

Maidana is tailor-made for Mayweather. If you Yanks want Maidana, that's fair enough. Personally, i'd like to see a somewhat competitive, potentially exciting fight.

        Each to their own, eh?
not just styles, but the context of how a fighter at the given time is able to utilize his style. Khan has struggled, he has lost about 5 steps since he fought Maidana...and Maidana has gained about 4 since then. Seeing how they were about evenly matched in their fight, that puts Chino significantly ahead of Amir Khan in the current context.

Maidana is so predictable. Am I the only one who sees this?

I swear fanboy-ism dominates Pacquaio-Mayweather threads; perhaps i would be wise to steer clear.
He is predictable at times but if he is on you he is a force to be reckoned with. His angles, his awkwardness, his aggression.. his kill or be killed mentality. Just because you see a wrecking ball coming at you doesn't mean you can stand to it or avoid it every time. Its strong, destructive, and inexorable. One mental slip from Mr Mayweather and Maidana has the ability to put him on the canvas with either hand.

its a higher stakes fight, and the right fight. Judging from Khans RECENT ****ing performances. Diaz is a guy that's been stopped..what? 4 or 5 times and Khan didn't have the pop to stop him. If we could all get in a time machine then Khan would be an interesting test for Mayweather, back when he was with Ariza and stopping guys, but he CLEARLY has lost some steps since then. A may khan fight is not only a farce, its a damn travesty!

Alas, I fear we've reached a stalemate. We disagree.

Personally, i'd rather see Khan-Mayweather, solely for stylistic reasons, but I can understand the argument for Maidana being more 'deserving'.
You mean solely for nationalistic reasons. C'mon lets call a spade a spade.

If you look at some of the guys he easily beat, Kotelnik, Maliginagi, Judah these guys don't want to take risks or put themselves in harms way, they want to hit and not get hit. Understand that it's extremely difficult win with purely this mentality against a guy as fast of hand and foot as Amir khan. In order to beat him you have to take risks, you have to be willing take shots to land your own shots on him.

Look at his two losses, Presscot a power puncher, knocked him out, his mentallity was to land bombs on Khan even if it meant getting hit he punched with him. Danny Garcia was looking to land the counter left hook, but it had to be well timed and he had to take the risk throwing the big left between Khans combos, Garcia was willing to take hits to land the left hook. Also a couple of close wins for Khan, Maidana who's more than willing to take hits had Khan in trouble and made it very uncomfortable for him to say the least. Peterson (no one can tell me Peterson legitimately won that) he made it close coming forward willing to take hits to land his own. And Diaz same again, he threw with Khan willing to take hits and made it close.

Floyd Mayweather has purely the hit and don't get hit mentality of which he is a master of, to beat Khan he may well have to come forward and risk taking hits, if he does just box Khan with the same mentality and wins that would be highly impressive to me, this is why I think this fight would be much more interesting than watching Maidana another flatfooted power puncher who we not only know Floyd would beat but pretty much how he would win, too boring and predicable. Khan a different and arguably difficult style for Floyd presents a potentially interesting and exciting fight.
Mayweather has been in every kind of fight imaginable in his tenure. From boxing exhibitions to dogfights. Khan judging by the recent doesn't have the pop to trouble Mayweather. If he couldnt stop Diaz he's going to be walked down by Mayweather, and easily. Speed don't matter a damn if its kept at home.

I know fighting, and fighters. I have studied the fight culture my whole life. Maidana is special. He has more longevity than Khan, more heart than Ortiz, he's smarter than Broner, more powerful than Guerrero, more savage than Canelo, more tenacious than Mosley, and most importantly, hes a student who can add to his game. The value of these things cannot be estimated.
